Here are some interesting facts about this mosque: • Historical Significance: The original mosque on this site, known as the Fushë Çela Mosque, was an important center for Islamic scholarship in Shkodër. It was destroyed during the communist era in Albania, a period when religious practices were heavily suppressed. • Reconstruction: The current mosque was constructed between 1994 and 1995, funded by Saudi entrepreneur Sheikh Zamil Abdullah Al-Zamil. It was inaugurated on October 27, 1995, and underwent renovation in 2008. • Architecture: Designed by ARC Architectural Consultants, the mosque covers an area of 622.72 square meters and can accommodate up to 1,300 worshippers. It features a dome reaching 24 meters in height and a minaret standing at 41.11 meters. • Cultural Role: Beyond serving as a place of worship, the Ebu Bekr Mosque functions as a cultural hub for the Muslim community in Shkodër, hosting religious ceremonies, educational programs, and community events. • Location: Situated in the heart of Shkodër, the mosque is easily accessible and is surrounded by gardens, restaurants, and hotels, making it a central landmark in the city.

Ebu Bekr Mosque is a significant place in Islamic history. It was funded by a businessman from Saudi Arabia and a one of the prominent sheikhs from Saudi paid a visit at the mosque. Additionally, Skhoder is the birthplace of Sheikh Al-Albani, one of the greatest Islamic scholars ever. Alhamdulillah, we managed to record videos and take pictures of this place, and learn in depth about it. We even published a video on YouTube and Instagram Channel about it - channel name - ROOTS&ROUTES360 - focusing on Islamic Heritage in Central Europe and...

Islamic way of life was nowhere more devastated than in Albania, even more than other two religions and it's sad to see numerous consequences of that. I was pleased to see, even though it was sponsored by Saudi money, that you have kept the names of God's messenger, Rashidun and Ali's two sons, Hasan and Husayn. The masjid itself is beautiful, but please pay more attention to the wudu area. All in all, I felt great inside. Salam to my Muslim...
