The Museo Carmen Thyssen Andorra, inaugurated in March 2017, is located on Avinguda Carlemany in Escaldes-Engordany. It resides on the ground floor of the historic Hostal Valira, an iconic building known for its Andorran granite architecture. The museum is the first international branch of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, following museums in Madrid and Málaga. The museum's collection primarily features 19th- and 20th-century paintings, with temporary exhibitions ensuring a fresh experience for returning visitors. The exhibitions include works from Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Expressionism. Interactive displays and audioguides enhance the visitor experience, providing additional information and diverse perspectives on the artwork. The museum has been nominated for awards, including recognition from UNESCO in 2018. The building itself is an example of Andorran granite architecture, with a honeycomb facade. The museum is wheelchair accessible and incorporates modern museum technology.

9 euros for adult ticket and 5 euros for people under 26. The museum is small with small, but diverse selection of paintings for the price. However, the place is clean, well-organized and they provide multiple ways through a guide to view the paintings. Security is always lurking around so it’s hard to focus on the paintings. It feels like you’re being watched the whole time.

Great collection ranging from Auvers, Rousseau to the likes of Andy Warhol. They provide a locker to put your belongings, wifi password is glued behind the monitor on the front desk. They also have a wide range of souvenirs.

A very tiny gallery -- I walked around twice in ten minutes -- displaying some minor holdings of its eponymous private collector. (Perhaps it is worth remembering here that Andorra is a tax haven.) The temporary installation, organized around the idea of "influencers," was trying to be trendy yet failed, in art historical terms, to align with either "influence" (a regressive concept) or "networks" (a current topic of research). Personally not worth the visit, even if I was...
