Unacceptable Opinión sobre el Cerro Chapelco Opinión escrita ayer Traductor de Google First we had to wait an hour for the gondola to get fixed. Then it is extremely poorly ran. Not enough employees to keep things organized. This allowed extremely rude people to jump the line. We were with an 8 year old. It is the resorts responsibility to not allow line cutting. For the amount of people on the hill, the parking is not large enough. Evidently the province had to give some of this land to a group of chilean natives (mapuches) therefore shrinking the size of the parking lot and making it almost impossible to get in and out. This also caused people to have to park on the street, which should be illegal, turning the road into a very dangerous one car lane for two way traffic in the mountains with curves and lots of snow. The potholes on the road were very deep and dangerous . No maintenance. The lodge (tent) at the top of the hill was freezing, heaters were not working . this should be a place to warm up and relax before hitting the runs again. evidently the owner, Jorge Zabala has no respect for his customers. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience for all the money we had to pay. We will...

This is a great location for varied and interesting skiing for those coming from the Northern Hemisphere, but a few words of caution:

The good bits Stunning setting with view of the high Andes and the local lakes; it is breathtaking A lot of wide, interesting skiing A number of fast lifts New snow cannons ensured a way home by skis Lots of potential for off-piste Some really nice restaurants in resort People are friendly and seem very genuine We mad friends with the local dogs who roam around the resort and the mountain.

The not-so-good bits: We had mixed weather (which is not the ski lift company's fault) and still enjoyed ourselves though; in Patagonia, as the locals say, the weather changes very quickly. Some new lifts are slow, making queues for the fast ones Snow making needs extending (only one home run was open whilst we were here) The road to resort (which we had to walk on with ski boots) is not a pleasant experience and feels unsafe: the mud and rock 'pavement' is often parked on by cars, so you have to dice with death and avoid the coaches whizzing by as you tread...

Now on day 4 skiing. I had half a day of great skiing with many lifts working (all of the higher lifts are slow, no detachables and even some of the fixed run at half speed). The other 3,5 days lifts didn’t work, partly beginner lifts worked. No explanations given. One day was windy, all others calm. Rumors about low electricity supply and no staff. They do have absolutely zero double diamond terrain and hardly any blacks at all. Advanced skiing not possible, even if lifts are running. If you read through the 5 star reviews you can actually see that almost nobody got really happy here. Unless a severe skiing addiction forces you to go skiing in August/September, go elsewhere. Even as Argentinian I would fly to Europe as prices are not much different. Bariloche isn’t gonna rank in the top 100 ski resorts in Europe/USA/Japan. Food isn’t great. Argentinans are - always friendly...

Cerro Catedral is working full time already! Magic Carpet zone working 100% (Culipatín ya'll). Lifts still not working though (planned to start by mid June). Ski slopes for beginners that are currently open: Princesa and Evento. Bear in mind no fresh snow since the early snowstorm May 9th. Still early season! On the bright side: everything is free for all. No restrooms though. If you happen to need one, I'm gonna save you the pain and tell you to go straight to the McDonald's and buy yourself a cup coffee to get the privilege of a using a restroom 😉
