The Garni Gorge is situated 23 km east of Yerevan, Armenia, just below the village of the same name. On a promontory above the gorge the first-century AD Temple of Garni may be seen. Along the sides of the gorge are cliff walls of well-preserved basalt columns, carved out by the Goght River. This portion of the Garni Gorge is typically referred to as the "Symphony of the Stones." It is most easily reached via a road that leads left down the gorge just before reaching the temple of Garni. Another road leads to the gorge through the village, down a cobblestone road, and into the valley. Once in the valley, turning right will lead to Garni Gorge, an 11th-century medieval bridge, and the "Symphony of the Stones". Taking a left will lead along the river past a fish hatchery, up to the Khosrov Forest State Reserve, and a little further Havuts Tar Monastery

Wonderful place. You have the Roman temple from 2000 years ago here to visit on the plateau up top and then, down in the valley, the basalt columns, known as Symphony of the Stones. Not very far from Yerevan, about 20 km, and a 45 minute taxi ride. The basalt columns are amazing as they are sometimes hanging over your heads, hexagonal crystals of basalt formed by cooling lava. 200 dram to walk down the metalled pathway to the Stone Symphony isn't very expensive. Highly recommended that you see this while in Armenia. People are very friendly and it is nice even in winter. Visited February 2023, cool weather around 5C but still able to visit.

Garni in Armenia was an absolute gem, made even more special by our wonderful guide, Anastasia. Her knowledge of the area's history and culture added depth to our experience. Anastasia's warm personality and attention to detail made every moment memorable. As we soaked in the beauty of Garni, it became evident that Anastasia's passion for her country is truly infectious. And to top it off, Anastasia, your voice is truly mesmerizing. Would you please grace us with a song?

The temple at Garni was good, but the gorge was the highlight for me. Massive rock formations resembling organ pipes. There is a very steep way down from the temple, but walk into Garni village (leave the temple and turn right for about 200 metres) and follow a track down into the gorge. A helpful 4 WD driver may offer a lift for $20US but it really is not necessary as it is a fairly easy walk. Turn left at the bottom and wander into this amazing gorge.

This is for the gorge and not for the temple The symphony of stones are basalt columns. Absolutely stunning place where you can hike down a well paved path surrounded by basalt columns. Lots of photo opportunities but do be careful of falling rocks (especially after rain) and loose stones that have recently fallen You can pay for a golf car that drives you up and down but it shares the road with pedestrians so beware

Garni temple is historic and has been tested by time. It can be seen on each stone block that creates the visual wonder from its foundation, pillars and the stone roof... The view behind is breath taking as well, trekking with the local guide is a must. Freshly baked bread and candied fruits are also available . One of the best tourist spot when visiting Armenia.
