I rank this to be the best lookout for Adelaide City. This lookout is probably the closest one to Adelaide city, which offers a panoramic view of the whole city, both during the daytime or at night. The most spectacular view could be the sunset view, capturing both the beautiful sunset and the whole Adelaide city and even the ocean at the far end.
If you like hiking or doing a bit of simple exercise, there are several trails available within the Mount Osmond Reserve. Just use 1 to 2 hours and select one or two of the trails to walk, which is really an easy and enjoyable walk. However, there is almost no tree to provide shelter, so walking in the trails during summer with strong sunshine could be too hot and at the risk of heat stroke. Similarly, there is no rain shelter or building structure, so avoid visiting during very windy days or raining days. It is quite windy usually, so wearing a thicker jacket is highly recommended, especially visiting during winter, in the evening or at night.
Parking is available just next to Mount Osmond Road, right next to the entrance of the Lost Retreats. In fact, there are plenty of exits / entrances for locals of Beaumont (downhill residential areas) to come here (they would need to walk up the hill) to walk a dog, hike the trails, or ride MTB. For non-local residents, I think the best plan of visiting is driving your car to arrive at the Mount Osmond Lookout car park. There are less than 10 car park spaces, though, so if all spaces are fully parked, you may need to park a bit further away and walk back.
It is worth paying a visit solely for the spectacular and panoramic view of...

It use to be a hidden gem but now a dangerously popular spot especially on New Years Eve. I have never seen the level of disregard for road rules and disrespect towards locals, as I saw on that day, ever in Australia. It was so crowded and given there is no dedicated parking, cars were parked everywhere including road lanes and peopleโs driveways. The fireworks were visible but very distant so wasnโt worth the...
