If you plan on renting a bike, make sure the spinway bike hire is not broken. It's also possible to rent ebike from SA-ebike, but you better book it the day prior. Other ways enjoying the wineries around the trail is by foot / by foot + Uber (which was really reasonable price between the wineries).

If you walk or bike, a lot of the cellar doors are not directly connected to the Shiraz trail and require riding or walking on the roads. It's not as comfort or safe as riding the Shiraz trail. I still highly recommend going off the trail and...

I don’t get what all the fuss is about this trail… The path is good quality, but I was expecting to cycle close to vines and easy access to vineyards on the way. Instead the path is largely treelined with patch of dirt on either side before a fence and then vineyards. Not exactly the cycle amongst vines I was expecting. To get to any vineyards you have to cycle on the road around to the front entrances on a busy road. I feel I could have the same experience...

Shiraz trail is part of a longer trail called Coast to vine trail. This trail is more suitable for cycling than walking as it is smooth, asphalted and wide enough. It passes through McLaren Vale vineyards. Abundant vine trees, and also lots of olive trees are on the way. Name Shiraz comes from a city in Iran famous for its wine and poets. I don’t get what all the fuss is about this trail… The path is good quality, but I was expecting to cycle close to vines and easy access to vineyards on the way. Instead the path is largely treelined with patch of dirt on either side before a fence and then vineyards. Not exactly the cycle amongst vines I was expecting. To get to any vineyards you have to cycle on the road around to the front entrances on a busy road. I feel I could have the same experience cycling anywhere

beautiful trail, we drove upto at an end and the greenery was so admirable. We stopped our car in between two big farming land and clicked pictures. Perfect place for capturing good pics
