If you plan on renting a bike, make sure the spinway bike hire is not broken. It's also possible to rent ebike from SA-ebike, but you better book it the day prior. Other ways enjoying the wineries around the trail is by foot / by foot + Uber (which was really reasonable price between the wineries).

Instead the path is largely treelined with patch of dirt on either side before a fence and then vineyards. Not exactly the cycle amongst vines I was expecting.
