This is one of McLaren Vale’s hidden gems and well worth a visit. Primo Estate offers a beautifully designed cellar door experience with modern architecture, clean lines, and panoramic vineyard views from the driveway through to the tasting area. The red carpet walkway into the venue adds a touch of elegance as you approach.

We had a fantastic tasting session hosted by a knowledgeable and passionate team member who took the time to guide us through the unique character of each wine. Every pour was part of a story, whether it was their rich and smooth Joseph red blends, crisp white varietals, or indulgent fortifieds. The presentation of the wines was spot-on, and the glasses were immaculately clean and perfectly poured.

Inside, the tasting space was thoughtfully laid out with plenty of room, natural light, and beautifully arranged wine displays lining the walls. Their collection includes both Italian-inspired and Australian wines, all carefully curated and available for purchase.

A highlight for us was how relaxing and calm the whole space felt, it never felt rushed. It's a place you can sit, sip, and soak in the atmosphere. We didn’t leave empty-handed either, too many great wines to resist.

Highly recommend for wine lovers and anyone seeking a premium tasting experience.

Both couples had been here for tasting previously and looking forward again to the tasting and looking to stock up on lots of wines and olive oil. We turned up for our tasting and were greeted enthusiastically, as we settled in to start tasting we were informed that a new person was going to be doing our tasting. We were ok with that except she was left alone to perform the tasting and you could see she was reading notes between tastings and had no real experience in doing tastings or letting us know the history, geography of the wines and vineyards. We had to ask for the olive oil tasting and it wasn't a great informative experience. The initial person only showed up for the sales. We only bought a portion of what we intended, and in our haste to get out of there we never really interrogated the bill as we should have and we were delivered a $90 bottle that we never even tasted. Sooo disappointed. The wines themselves were good, but with so many good wineries I am not sure that they will receive future business.

After posting the review Primo have contacted me and adjusted their process so this wont happen to other customers and reimbursed me for the wine that I hadn't tasted. Very appreciative of thier gesture and I have purchased some of their Prosecco as we have had it in the past...

We had the pleasure of experiencing the exceptional wines of Primo Estate, made all the more memorable by the warm and knowledgeable service from Kirsty. From the moment we arrived, her passion for the wines and genuine hospitality elevated the entire tasting.

The range was beautifully curated – from the crisp and expressive La Biondina to the bold elegance of the Joseph Moda Cabernet Merlot, every pour told a story of craftsmanship and care. The olive oil and vinocotto pairing was a delicious touch, adding a layer of depth to the overall experience.

Kirsty guided us through each wine with insight and charm, striking the perfect balance between informative and relaxed. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she made the experience feel personal and unrushed.

A visit to Primo Estate is not just about the wine – it’s about the people behind it, and thanks to Kirsty, it’s a visit we won’t soon forget. Highly recommended for anyone looking for top-tier South Australian wines...

Superb wines, superb venue, superb host (Lynley), and superb tasting experience. We spent nearly 90 minutes tasting an incredible range of wine, beginning with a Prosecco, fruity on the nose but dry on the way down, to cleanse the palate. The tasting notes, plus Lynley’s additional commentary, helped us appreciate and understand the wines set before us. When the reds were being poured, Lynley produced servings of bread and olive oil - much appreciated. Ended up getting a mixed dozen: Prosecco, Il Briccone Shiraz Sangiovese, and the Shale Stone Shiraz, plus a complimentary bottle of olive oil. A first-rate experience and an exceptional start to our day of discovering just a fraction of what McLaren Vale has to offer.

We are from Sydney, Four of us visited this venue with our Adelaide friends. We walked in last minute of the day and only 45 minutes to finish off. I didn’t test the wines so I wouldn’t comment on the testing. But the service was amazing. I loved the coffee at the end. The value of the testing was good because it was included the small nibbles. We enjoyed it . We got allocated in the nice private room. I gave 4 stars because of the overall experience, if we have stayed there longer and I tested the wines. I would be more than happy to provide more feedback. We will return when we visit McClaren region again.
