Green Hill Lake Reserve is a fantastic spot for anyone who enjoys the outdoors and a bit of relaxation. I recently spent a few days there, and it was a great experience. The reserve is located just outside Ararat, making it an easy escape for anyone looking to unwind in nature.
The lake itself is beautiful, perfect for fishing, kayaking, or simply sitting by the water and enjoying the view. The campsite is spacious, and even when it gets busy, it doesn’t feel overcrowded. There are plenty of flat areas to set up tents, and it’s great for both caravans and traditional camping.
One of the things I really appreciated was how clean and well-maintained the area is. The facilities are basic—just toilets, but that’s all part of the charm if you’re looking for a more rustic experience. There’s also plenty of wildlife around, so if you’re into birdwatching or just love being close to nature, it’s perfect.
Overall, Green Hill Lake Reserve is a peaceful, scenic spot that's great for families, solo campers, or groups of friends. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy some quiet time outdoors.

Read moreThird time camping here and this time was great as we didn't stay in the main area with the crowd and the lake was full of water. We got a spot right on the water and was hardly any mozzies which was a nice change as they have been bad in many areas this trip. We caught a heap of yabbies and made a creamy garlic yabbies pasta. So good. Toilets and shower need a bit of lovin but we have our own so didn't bother us so 5 star for me. Very large area so lots of room and bins everywhere and no rubbish around. Well done Ararat council as no bins means...
