To the young lady who looked after us our sincere thanks for your courtesy and welcome. You were looking after this extremely interesting centre, selling tickets and explaining everything to potential visitors, being the icecream girl, the shop assistant and whatever was needed! You are a treasure! We spent a couple of hours here and could have spent longer except the little ones wanted to head off. We explained how this Centre celebrates the people who helped improve living standards for all workers. Surprised to see the lockup from Toogoolawah feature there, a long trip from the Brisbane Valley! Working Women, History of the Shearers' Strike, St Helena Jail, the Young Un, all set in beautifully landscaped grounds. Had to go and ask for the salads as they weren't delivered with the meal. They tried to tell me that they asked if I wanted salad but that's not true. The "Guinness Steak Pie" was very small and dry. Any hint of Guinness long evaporated. I expected better for $22.00. The chips were OK and the salad too, when it arrived. Would not recommend.
