Moreton island, an absolute gem a stone's throw from Brisbane. Perfect for families, perfect for couples of all ages and everyone in between. If you like camping, love the beach then Moreton is a must on your list. 4wding is beginner level in my opinion, be aware of tide times and time your travel responsibly. There is resort facilities at tangalooma but we were there for the basic joy of enjoying this beautiful part of the world. Research your times of year to go and skip the crowds. I highly recommend a trip. Relax, destress, take you eye of your phone and the clock. The best bit. Very little phone reception if any on the eastern beach side. Hahaha. Just enjoy.

This island is situated in the Moreton bay and approx. two hour journey by ferry from Brisbane main land. I visited this place in 2016. A beautiful creation of nature amidst turquoise water. The Ferry journey is itself enjoyable. You must not to forget carrying hat/ umbrella along with sun screen as on the deck the sun light is intense. We took a daylong package that includes pick up from our service apartment, , ferry journey, buffet lunch and several activities in the island like: kayaking, snorkeling, jeep drive, sand tobogganing. It was a wonderful tour along with my colleagues and we had one of the best tour guides. we got back to Brisbane in the evening.

We stayed at the resort in July the rooms are nice and tidy and most have amazing views of the ocean .
the ferry ride is enjoyable and the captain points out all the local places on the foreshore which is pretty cool . also they arrange all of the baggage to be delivered to the rooms 👍
the dolphin feeding is pretty amazing and a good chance to get some pics .
all the staff on the island are really helpful and friendly we will be back in summer for sure !
The wifi is super slow but with a beach like that it doesn’t matter !!!

Wonderful holiday destination. Very water sports or relaxation orientated. We did a 5 day cruise from Sydney to Moreton Island and return. My sister and I did Quad biking, kayaking in clear kayaks. The fish were amazing to see around the shipwrecks. Finished off with parasailing over the magical blue waters of Moreton Island. Then we cooled off in the beautiful clear waters before relaxing at the island bar and heading back to our cruise ship. A must do! We will be back Moreton Island! You left your mark on us!

Magical place with outstanding views and relaxing beaches. During the holiday season the area near the wrecks might get a bit busy. A lot of 4WD driving happening at the beach disturbing the marine wildlife, especially crabs. Snorkeling visibility at the wrecks is poor but it has a high coral cover (Acropora spp). There are also bush walks at a moderate difficulty. Campings grounds can get very busy and there is a lot of trash near the entrance of the grounds.

While I haven’t actually visited Moreton Island, viewing it from the air while flying into Brisbane Airport was a pleasant sight with extensive beaches and aqua water. Located a short distance off the coast there are plenty of tours available and I’d definitely consider doing one if spending more time in the area.
