Read moreSo I visited this temple today, being the 1st Friday of Aadi. I was greeted by an extremely rude temple personnel mending the counter. I’m a tourist and I was flabbergasted by his behaviour this morning, in a holy ambience. I wasn’t expecting this from someone who is supposed to be in the service of God. When asked about the archanai, he raised his voice at me asking me if I have a $10 bill. I said I don’t and showed him my $50 note. And he raised his voice again at me and opened up his cash register showing me that he doesn’t have change for $50 and everybody has been shoving him with a $50 bill since morning. Come on! That’s not the way you talk to a temple devotee who has come to seek peace and God early in the morning. For a moment, I didn’t know how to react.
And then I asked if they had lamps to offer. Again, he rudely pointed to the left to a tray of lamps and pointed to the back to another tray of lamps and raised his voice “Yes, we have! Which one do you want?”

Other than this awful experience I had, the temple is beautiful and serene with ladies singing bajans in front of Durga. I hope someone reads this and responds...
