A unique "beach". Not really a beach one can truly swim at. There is no sand, just pebbly rocks. Pebbles of all sizes and shapes, but all smooth and round edged. It is, however, a geologist's paradise, with volcanic rock strata jutting-out at right angles from the sea bed. Two large "knobbies" lie at either end of the"beach"; also rather appropriately named "little knobby" (north end) & "big knobby" (south end). Spearfishermen risk the choppy sea, unseen currents and dangerous rips to catch large fish near the large rock formations close to shore. During school vacation, teenagers, youths & some adults can be seen diving or jumping from "little knobby's" rock cliffs into the sea. A sometimes dangerous but exhilirating thrill for all involved, both doer & watcher. Nature-wise, Pebbly Beach is absolutely beautiful. A great scenic spot to go for a walk & to take your camera to get some awe-inspiring photo's. Safety-wise though, it is not an ideal spot to swim. Great to picnic at on a lovely sunny day -...

There's a separate camp ground you can book separately very close to the shore. There's shops, food works supermarket, country bowls club, restaurants, coffee shop within 5-10 minutes walk.
