Pandanus garden bar and restaurant — Restaurant in Crescent Head

It's a lovely garden location. Service was extremely slow. Staff were friendly. Meals are all designed as share plates.

Food was very average, but OK - nothing special. We didn't have the seafood.

There were quite a few menu options not available. Prices were high - $62 for 6 meat skewers (chicken and pork were very small and pork was overcooked; came with some nice salads); $38 for 12 very small dumplings (unexplained and nondescript fillings); $56 for 6 bao buns (fillings good, but baos were frozen ones, not made fresh and hadn't been steamed well, same nice salad).

We left still a bit hungry (5 people). We were planning on ordering more food, but it had taken 2 hours with one share plate coming out every half hour. It was too late. We were tied.

Beers (some very strange fruit flavoured local brews) and wine by the glass- all $9. Cocktails available.

Owner is a misogynist! My wife and I walked in at 5:30pm to an empty venue and asked if we could please have a drink. The owner was in the courtyard on our arrival and made no attempt to greet us. We thought we could have a cocktail or a beer before dinner as it states it is a ‘Bar and Restaurant’. He (the owner) showed utter contempt towards his wait staff (and she was lovely) and condescendingly told them that they were ‘fully booked and we are a restaurant’ in a sarcastic tone. Not sure why he couldn’t have said this to us as he was standing next to the wait person? His attitude and demeanour was disgusting and we would definitely not recommend! The whole situation was extremely awkward and considering the venue was completely empty we couldn’t understand his rudeness and passive aggression. Try and be kind and...

My partner and I stopped in crescent head for the night on our way down the coast. We had originally eaten here because nothing else was open at that time in the area. I'm so glad it was the only place serving food because we had a wonderful time. We shared one of their seafood specials they had that day which included pork and prawns. The food was delicious and the staff so friendly and helpful, they explained the menu very easily. The food is locally sourced making it all the better. For the price, I think it was exceptional value for the quality of the food....
