I had such a great time with John at the Australian Bonsai Gallery. This was my second bonsai workshop with John, and as I found on my previous visit, he is a true professional, very knowledgeable and friendly guy. I spent many hours talking and working on my Japanese black pines, swamp cypress and a variety of my trees and he was an amazing resource of all things bonsai. The delicious m/tea and lunch that Sue provided makes you feel very welcome and I am already planning my next workshop. Thanks John, I really appreciate your effort and care you give to my trees, and the bonsai community is very fortunate to have your level of bonsai craftmanship on the Mid North Coast. I would highly recommend anyone paying a visit to the Australian Bonsai Gallery, at whatever stage in your bonsai journey, you will come back with a loads more knowledge and self-confidence.

John was very welcoming and his knowledge and experience really comes through in his explanations and "stories" well worth the visit. No tickets but I would recommend calling to make an appointment.

Earlier this year I had the great pleasure of visiting Sakura Bonsai Gallery in Dorrigo and meeting John. My husband and I were amazed by John’s Bonsai collection and John happily showed us around despite the light rain that was falling. Last week I attended a one-on-one workshop with John where he generously shared some of his vast knowledge of Bonsai with me. Back in the 1980’s I had completed Bonsai workshops with Dorothy and Deborah Koreshoff in Sydney. Decades later I am now rekindling my love of Bonsai and I am so thankful that I found John. He is an inspiring, patient, and knowledgeable teacher. We touched on many aspects of the art of Bonsai and I was pleased that I had retained some of what I had learned all those years ago. I had the best day! Thank you John! Thank you also to John’s wife Sue for the yummy morning tea, lunch and conversation during my visit. I will definitely be back as I continue on my...

I first had the privilege of visiting the amazing collection at Sakura Bonsai Gallery earlier this year. I returned to complete a one-on-one workshop as a student. This was a totally fulfilling experience; I didn't want the day to end. I benefitted so much from John's deep knowledge, experience and passion for bonsais. He had great focus and patience, adapting to my level of experience and gradually guiding me and building my confidence at the next level. The outcome was beyond my expectations and I will definitely be returning to further my bonsai journey and gain better skills and the ability to make better decisions and grow my artistic ability. His collection is also a great inspiration. Thank...
