If you’ve got kids and you’re looking for the ultimate summers day out then Sugarworld is the place to be!

It’s not exactly cheap, but honestly, for a full day of water filled fun, it’s great value. Heads up parents just spectating, you need to pay to enter as well so you may as well jump in and enjoy yourself with the kids!

Between the splash park, smaller pools, and the 3 epic super slides, everyone is guaranteed a day of laughter and excitement.

For families with older kids over 10, just keep in mind the smaller splash area and little pools are off limits for them, which leaves mainly the super slides and mini golf to keep them busy. The super slides are definitely a hit though (if you can survive the constant trek up there!)

There are heaps of shaded areas and picnic tables, which makes it super family friendly, and I love that there are lockers available if you’re planning to jump in the water yourself (can’t comment on prices as I haven’t used them myself). The bathrooms were also impressively clean for such a big and busy park so big tick there!

Mini golf adds a bit of extra fun although we found it a bit tricky for the littlies with some steep slopes and sneaky creeks ready to constantly swallow those golf balls. Still, most kids seem more than happy to spend their time on the slides anyway!

Now, a few things that DESPERATELY need some love and attention to take this park from good to amazing…

  1. The cafe wait times and staff attitude… Every single visit, it’s been 30+ minutes just to order, and then more waiting for the food. The line moves slower than a turtle in thongs, and the staff always seem… less than thrilled to be there. A little more efficiency (and a few more smiles) would make a world of difference… not to mention it would likely boost your sales too!

  2. The pathway up to the red super slide… Ouch! The exposed aggregate surface is brutally sharp and rough on bare feet. Please, please, please consider resurfacing or matting it next off season.

  3. Super slide safety… This was a HUGE one for me and I deducted a whole star for this one. When the traffic light system isn’t working at the top of the red slide, then there absolutely needs to be a lifeguard up there to manage turns. Without it, it quickly turns into chaos, and that’s not safe for anyone. Parents shouldn’t have to police the line with other people’s kids. Honestly it got so dangerous I took my little man off of that one.

Despite these hiccups, Sugarworld is still a fantastic day out and a solid summer favourite in our household. We’ll absolutely keep coming back, I’m just hoping a few tweaks can make it the five star experience it’s so...

Sugar World Adventure Park is a popular attraction in Cairns, particularly for families with young children. While it may not be the most impressive adventure park in the region, it does offer a decent way to entertain kids and tire them out.

The facilities at Sugar World Adventure Park could use a bit of TLC, as some areas look a little dated and worn. However, that being said, the park still offers a range of activities for kids, including water slides, a mini-golf course, and a playground. So, if you're a local and need to tire out some kids, Sugar World Adventure Park will do the trick.

The water slides are probably the highlight of the park, and kids will no doubt have a blast racing down them. The mini-golf course is also a fun activity, with plenty of obstacles to keep things interesting. The playground is a good place for younger kids to run around and burn off some energy.

While the facilities could use some updates, the staff at Sugar World Adventure Park are friendly and helpful. They are always on hand to assist with any questions or concerns you may have.

Overall, if you're a local looking for a way to entertain the kids for a few hours, Sugar World Adventure Park is...

Neice organised fams' day at least 4wks prior to today's adventure. Boy what an adventure!!😠 An area had been booked; reserved. Paid!! No reserved sign. Followed up with management as to where we'd go. Customer service attendant was rude - "I've had training in hospitality" she said. Whether she had training or not; well good onya girly, didn't need to hear a run-down of your resume. All this while the manager stood in silence. This is just a snippet of action. Pros: our kiddies enjoyed it. Cons: the things our kiddies don't take notice of because they're havn' water fun in the sun. For example some area exits for kids splash slides, 'greenery' growing plus a build up of leaf matter eeww1!! 2 members of our group saw blood on an exit, no, not paint!! Eeww2! Slide marshal; a young lad timing entry for tubing, I could tell he didn't wanna be there & I didn't like the way he pushed (shoving with foot when there was no need to) each swimmer especially the younger kids, almost hitting their heads. Thankful for marshal change over. That lad was really pleasant. So, would we recommend, definite sweet...

Great place for kids , couldn’t get them out of there. But couldn’t believe for a council run facility that they don’t have recycle bins for all the plastic and glass bottles that were being bought and binned. We live in a world heritage region surrounded by beautiful Rain Forest and our council is neglecting to front up and clean up these types of facilities. Would be nice to see recycling mandated around Cairns by council. Otherwise awesome place for kids and family’s

We love going to SugarWorld as there is an incredible range of tropical fruit trees planted there. They are all well marked with little signs to tell you what tree they are, and it’s very interesting to wander about the park identifying the fruit. There is always something there fruiting. On our most recent trip all the mangosteens were fruiting and I was surprised to see just how many varieties there are. Worth a visit.
