The Big Ned Kelly Statue in Glenrowan is a towering tribute to Australia’s most infamous bushranger, standing six meters tall on the corner of Gladstone and Kate Streets. This iconic fiberglass figure, unveiled in 1992, captures Ned in his legendary armor, making it a striking photo opportunity for visitors. The statue’s size and bold presence reflect Australia’s love for “Big Things” and Ned’s larger-than-life legacy as a rebel and folk hero. Easily accessible 24/7, it’s a short detour off the Hume Highway, with nearby parking and attractions like Kate’s Cottage and the Ned Kelly Museum adding historical depth. While some debate Ned’s legacy, this statue is a must-see for anyone exploring Glenrowan’s...

The Big Ned Kelly was an awesome and big statue! The statue stands in front of a coffee shop selling coffee beans, ice cream and sugar candy. The whole town is very quaint with lots of buildings to visit and explore. There's a museum with lots of memorabilia and replica of Ned Kelly's homestead that you can check out for a small fee ($12 for adults, $2 for kids). There's also a shop selling fancy gourmet goods and local alcohol. There's an animatronics museum with various smoke effects etc. We crossed the bridge over to the area marked where Ned Kelly was shot and captured. Everything is well marked with interesting facts about what took place...

The town is a fun little stop off on your way up to Canberra from Melbourne or vice versa. There isn't that much to see here so I wouldn't go too out of your way to see it but I enjoyed viewing the statue and visiting the little quirky local stores.

There were multiple shops in town that had signs out front indicating the best coffee in town, as we were walking past one of them I heard hurried footsteps behind us and one of the employees was racing back from a different shop with a takeaway coffee haha

We visited during the off season but I imagine this place would get crazy during the school holidays with everyone stopping off on their...

You certainly know where you are when you see The Big Ned Kelly in Glenrowan. And judging by the amount of caravans parks up there it’s certainly a popular stop off point. Of course, Ned Kelly is actually an important part of Australian history and folklore that has helped to cement the Australian culture. Yes, a criminal, but loved at the same time as a lariken who was for the people against the establishment. It’s great that the local community keeps the town thriving. The tourist info area needs to be free, it feels very wrong to charge an entry free. It’s better to ask for a donation.
