Maybe a 2.5 but I'll give a 3. The female "Basil Fawlty" who served us almost encouraged us to leave before we started. Why people work on the front counter who clearly don't want to be there is beyond me - maybe we hit a bad day. Pies very average (mince only) and very average sausage rolls. Sweets ok. I didn't have the coffee but my wife said it was nothing to write home about. When compared to the Beechworth Bakery(s) - Bright. Beechworth etc - price wise, food and set-up - it fell far short. However I was wonderfully surprised and had an absolutely fantastic espresso. My regular is a double ristretto but the nice shop owner explained to me that Melbourne coffee snobs have invented an entirely stupid thing called a "Magic", which I politely declined.
