A Scottish friend [ Aussie national now]and I visited MAIALA Park on a July Wednesday ,25, at around midday. One of Brisbane's gems to show off to my Scottish mate . I am 62 years old, having been brought up in Brisbane, so visiting this park always brings back memories or events from childhood [ leeches]. My mothers ashes are supporting new growth up there somewhere. MAIALA PARK has been here ,a Brisbane icon, for a very long time . The layout of the park, the rock work, feels familiar to me even though there may be years between my visits to the park . Maybe I am mistaken ,but I had thought you could camp here once upon a time? I would love to be able to camp so close to Brisbane in the lush forest. Arriving and parking [ there are other parking spaces closer to walk tracks]at just off road ,high,we passed a few friendly, helpful ,later in life, fit , and very happy people on this winter day . People enjoying a day out laughter and picnics. I noticed at least one push button BBQ . I assume there are more dotted strategically around .The park precedes various easy walks on well maintained walking tracks . Honestly , at around 45 minutes drive from Brisbane city, to land in this natural wonderland is a treat. Stamford Village is not too far away for restaurants and boutique window browsing. I could Not think of anything negative about this fabulous...
Read moreNice picnic area with some nice easy walks. But gets extremely busy on weekends. The national park has lots of great walks, if you want to get away from the crowds, a great walk just up the road from here is the walk to the Piper Comanche wreck. It has its own car park and even on a busy weekend you’ll probably find a car park and won’t see too many people. The hardest bit is finding the trail head. From the car park It’s only about 100m past the gate on the right (download the all trails app, it has all the popular walks and lesser known trails and is great for navigation as you go.) There is a steep rough section from the ridge down to the plane wreck, but it’s not that long and the trail is pretty well defined and marked along the way. The rain forest is good quality with plenty of beautiful old growth trees and minimal exotics compared with some...
Read moreA gorgeous light hike/walk! We did the Greene's Falls Track via Rainbow Circuit (half way through Rainforest Circuit is the path onto Cypress/Greene's track), & with Cypress Grove Track on the way back after reaching the falls. This meant that we went on every part of the path in this section. Some formal decking path, though most on a formed but unsealed path. Did puff on the inclines a bit, but would still class it as an "easy" hike. Many kids & people of all ages seen on the track. Clear signage. Would recommend wearing sneakers. Beautiful grass areas by the carpark. Toilets were there, though we didn't use them. We did use the toilets at the Mt Glorious cafe just down the road (would also recommend the cafe food/drink) & the toilets were...
