Gundog Estate Cork St Cellar — Attraction in Gundaroo

Really disappointing experience with the service at Gundog. Staff were super inattentive; we had to clear our own table, walk to the counter to ask for service after waiting 15 mins, ask for table water and wine glasses. We ordered food that never showed up, followed up on the food after 30 mins, then after waiting 1.5 hrs asked to cancel the food because we were about to leave. The wine tasting took 1.5 hrs for two people and the staff left wine bottles on our table to pour ourselves instead of coming back to serve us. We could see the staff standing in the kitchen talking for a lot of the time and only a third of the tables were occupied. We discovered Gundog by accident when visiting Gundaroo over the weekend and we are so glad that we did. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel that nothing would be any problem. The location is rustic and perfect for the mild autumn afternoon. The tasting session was excellent, and we gained a real appreciation about the various wines from the estate. A real surprise was the local riesling, not on the regular tasting rotation but we were offered a sample when we expressed interest in this variety. A bonus is the food menu, with dishes coming from the kitchen of Grazing restaurant next door. We highly recommend a visit the next time you are visiting Gundaroo, or why not make a special trip? Horrendous service. I was a couple minutes late and upon arrival I was told that I was “naughty”. We asked if there was any chance to be seated outside and was told that I would have to find a table outside myself and that my table was inside so to sit down. We clearly had questions about the menu (plate sizes, how many to share etc) and questions about the tasting but when the waiter came over he started getting angry that we were unsure of our orders yet.
