The lake entrance is still blocked by sand drift through winter & spring. With all this rain it's at the tipping point to be opened. If we wait long enough climate change will raise sea level to naturally open the lake. When the Lake Innes/Lake Cathie study is completed & someone takes ownership of the complete system, put it back to it's historical state, ie Lake Innes ( a freshwater system) & Lake Cathie (salt) then correct the bridge over to the "Island" everything will be a source of joy, climate change...
Read moreGorgeous and beautiful lake. People were swimming, playing and canoeing. The lake water was as warm as a bath and the water is not deep at all (though some areas in the middle of the lake are deep). The water was really murky and we tried snorkeling but could not see anything but we had an amazing time. The Cathie beach is also a light swim across the lake and just a 1 minute walk. Read moreThis place holds so many wonderful memories of when we would holiday there when the kids were young (25yrs ago)..SO dissapointed to see the condition of the lake and the fact that the water quality was so bad that swimming isn't allowed! All the little shops across the road are closed, just absolutely devastating! A beautiful peice of paradise gone to ruin! Surely the local/state/federal bodies could collectively do something to rectify...
