We went here for breakfast. It was fathers day, but there were plenty of stuff, we had no problem getting a table without a booking and there were three in the kitchen. The cafe is great - has a nice large deck over a sizeable pond with fountain. Grounds are green, scattered with cool sculptures. I started with a Chai Latte which was delicious. My partner ordered a skim cappuccino but received a skim flat white. It tasted good enough. We had to ask three times to get water for the table. We both ordered the big breakfast. We asked for no mushrooms and to add avocado. We both received avocado, along with mushrooms though. There were homemade hash browns, but they were stiff and overcooked. On both plated one of the poached eggs was overcooked. One of the pieces of sourdough was burnt, they placed the burnt side down on the plate instead of just replacing it. The bacon was cooked excellently.
After breakfast we did some wine tasting. The cellar door staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly and their range is wide and tasty. Every wine I tasted I sincerely enjoyed and I am confident that their range would suit anyone wanted to taste some lovely wines.

Read moreVisiting the Hunter on our Honeymoon, we stopped in at Gartlemann Wines in Lovedale, and have to say what an amazing Winery! The first thing you notice is the vista, the pond and fountain are beautiful as you drive in off the road and the view from the Deck House captivating. But we didn’t visit to admire the view more to taste the wines….they did not disappoint. The service was exceptional, so friendly and welcoming from the moment you walked through the door. Our tasting sommelier walked us through the different wines that matched our preferences. Finding one favourite was difficult and came away with more than one. So glad we joined the wine club and look forward to visiting again in September.
The 2021 Semillon was the standard out favourite followed closely by the Chardonnay and Sparkling Shiraz. It wasn’t possible to leave without taking some port and dessert wines too.
Do yourself a favour and stop buy and #grabagartlemann

Read moreWines were good however the poor service we received left a very bad taste in our mouths. At the beginning of our tasting we asked the guy Luke if there was a vegan option of any of their wines for a friend to have, and instead of just a “sorry no” we got scoffed at and then told that you wouldn’t find a single vegan wine in the whole hunter valley, which was far from true as every single winery we went to after had ranges of vegan wines. So after this incident he continually made remarks to make our friend uncomfortable and was rude and dismissive with us as a whole group. I’m the first person to understand somebody may be having a bad day, but there’s no reason to be so arrogant and rude. There was actually wines on the list that we would have purchased however we did not want to give our money after having...
