Jimmy Joans is our new favourite!!! Here’s why. The place is an absolute vibe, perfect in every way sometimes you need to pinch yourself to make sure it’s real. Atmosphere is chill and super comfortable, with live music on weekends always at the perfect volume so you can chat with loved one and friends. Fire pits are available in the winter as well as blankets and out door heater to keep you toasty warm. The indoor dining complete with fireplace makes you feel special with beautiful table settings. The service is second to none, Raya looked after us and she sure is a Raya sunshine. She recommended the perfect amount of food with the apple pie (limited edition for winter) coming in as a fav as was the chicken (perfectly cooked) the scotch egg to start and buratta with wood fired bread. Everything was flavoursome and not too heavy..portion sizes were perfect. Raya checked on us to alway make sure our glasses were full and we had everything we needed. It’s the perfect place for romance, my husband and I had an impromptu date night and were able to get a table last minute, also great for anniversaries. You can make a weekend of it as they have a couple of different options to stay on the property, we are going to take the family to the wilderness cottage next time so we can try out the breakfast. This is not a paid review, I have travelled a lot and found this place to be top tier for enjoyment and relaxation. Well done...
Read moreThe food was awesome as all these other reviews have said but I’m going to address everything else because it’s important and I’ve written it down. Great gravel car park. You can bring the super low sports car. Idk it’s just a nice car park, it’s got trees and shrubs, nice wooden fence. You’ll see what I mean. The ladies at the bar were super sweet, the uniforms and the aprons really add to the experience believe it or not. Atmosphère: super chill, nice music - we sat outside and it was the right volume, playlist tied in perfectly with every other aspect of the venue. Food: awesome food. Value for money. Pics related. Raspberry tart for dessert, don’t argue just do it. Drinks: great mocktail, had the black tea hibiscus and a negroni. Quality wine list. Great for the connoisseur and teetotaller alike. Service: relaxed pub beer garden vibe but with top notch food.
We didn’t, but you can bring your dog, massive plus. As we were leaving, there was a couple who were set up over on the lawn, and had the guy had his dog with him. It was honestly so chill.
We sat outside in early January. It was the kind of afternoon that sent you away perfectly content, high on life and optimistic for the future. It honestly was that good. Go here. You can tell they love...
Read moreWe recently made the trip from Brisbane to Sydney, catching up with family and taking a detour to the Hunter Valley for a long lunch at Jimmy Joans in Lovedale. It turned out to be the perfect choice.
We kicked things off with fresh oysters – briny, plump, and beautifully chilled – followed by a Scotch egg with piccalilli, crisp on the outside and perfectly runny inside, paired with that classic, tangy English pickle. The burrata was a creamy, dreamy addition, and the country-style pork terrine, studded with prunes and pistachios, hit all the right notes, especially with its sweet, caramelised onion.
But the real stars were the shared plates. The chargrilled steak and the balsamic glazed lamb shoulder, took a bit longer to hit the table, but damn worth the wait. The steak came out perfectly charred, with a juicy, tender centre that made every bite a pleasure. The lamb, slow-cooked to the point of falling apart, had a deep, rich flavour, beautifully balanced by the subtle sweetness of its balsamic glaze. Both were perfect with a bottle of Shiraz – a fitting nod to the Hunter’s winemaking pedigree.
Four hours flew by, with good food, great company, and plenty of laughs. We all left with full bellies and big smiles – a...
