Whilst the venue and hv highland games (Sat 26th Aug 2023) was awesome, NSW liquor and gaming let the event down by not granting them a licence to sell any wine from their cellar door on the day of their massive event. The weather was beautiful, great direction and organisation from marshalls and workers on the day. But we left feeling hungry and thirsty for a glass of wine & haggis pie, put off by the queue for the only authentic food there. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it was a great fun family day out. Bouncy castle and face painting for the kids, an ice cream van and coffee, bring a blanket to sit on. I would definitely recommend this event to people for next year

Had the most wonderful picnic experience here at Saltire with my partner! An amazing view coupled with a wine tasting and the most delicious platter of food for only $60! Such great value. The lady assisting us with the wine tasting was wonderful, unfortunately I didn’t catch her name but I believe it may have been Marie or Marine? Really friendly service and super knowledgeable about the wine that was served. Max the wine dog was also adorable and we enjoyed our picnic while he sat next to us. Highly recommend visiting Saltire and booking their picnic experience online! I look forward to returning the next time I’m in the Hunter!

Visited this winery twice in last few years and they really have got some great quality wines, good prices, amazing staff, lovely views. Mercedes was super knowlegeable and helpful during out wine tasting process and so was Max the wine dog. The sitting arranges both inside and outside were impeccable and we couldn't resist taking photos during both our visits. Must try Prosecco, Cab Sav or any other limited release as recommended by the staff as they are really into getting the best for you.

My wife and I visited this winery on Saturday 6/1/2024, travelling all the way from Melbourne and have been to many wineries both in Australia and abroad. The wine tasting service was disgusting and atrocious as we had to wait at least 15 minutes between pours even though there were 2 groups and just the 2 of us, having had 3 tastings ($20 for 7) in 30 minutes before we decided to leave to other wineries, the young lady that was supposed to be serving us, was more interested in the bigger groups. The other wineries we visited were however much more professional and did not disappoint us, what a shame as we are avid wine lovers and always seek to buy more wines for our huge collection, absolutely unprofessional and disappointing experience, small groups...

We’ve been going to the Hunter for a good while now and always try and pop to wineries we haven’t tried before. Saltire Estate was the first on our list for the day and it didn’t disappoint. Firstly, it was quite an unusual place to do the tasting upstairs with views of all the equipment. Secondly, the wine of course! I love both red and white and I’ve not ever been to a winery where I have enjoyed every single wine. It was amazing. Such a wonderful start to the day. Also the bargains this place has - 6 bottles for $60 because they ‘made too much’! Insane. Highly recommend the granache and the Cab Sav. Lastly, thank you to Mercedes who did our tasting and was so lovely. My only sadness was that I couldn’t pet max (I think?) the...

We stopped by the visitor center on our way into town and the lady marked saltier on our map as we did a drive around the country side we eventually found it using the paper map as Google didn't want to play nice.

Coming up the driveway we saw kangaroos and ducks and the cutest sign.

We poked our heads through the doorway and saw an upper level tasting room as we went up the stairs we we're greeted by a professional guard dog.

And started wine tasting the lovely lady took me through the entire list and I loved everything.

Other places only give you a thimble and 3 samples. Saliter are very generous. And had wine sales.

I get paid today.

Now I just need to get a "few tonnes" to be...
