Update (31 May 2025) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Gwen the parrot and I took a little adventure back to Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden on Sat , 31st May 2025, hoping to catch the last whispers of autumn. Honestly, we thought we’d missed the show—but to our delight, the garden was still glowing with gorgeous colours! It felt like a beautiful surprise gift from nature, and we couldn’t have been happier. If you’re wondering whether autumn’s done and dusted in the Dandenong Ranges—spoiler alert—it’s not! There’s still plenty of vibrant foliage to enjoy, and we reckon the colours will linger for at least another week. We arrived just before 10am and had no trouble finding parking. When we left around 1:30pm, though, the car park was full and there was a queue—so early birds definitely win this one. The weather was simply perfect—sunny skies, crisp air, and a lake so still it reflected the golden leaves like a dream. It was almost surreal, like stepping into a painting. Gwen had a fabulous time too—she got plenty of attention from friendly visitors saying hello, and she soaked it all in like a true little star. 29 APR 2023 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My pet parrot and I went to Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden on Saturday 29 Apr to catch some autumn foliage. The foliage is at the peak; the foliage colour is awesome. The stroll by ornamental lake was especially spectacular, as it was surrounded by mountain ash trees bursting with golden foliage as well as golden ginkgo leaves by the water.

The journey takes you past the charming boathouse and peaceful ponds, all of which have been impeccably maintained, preserving the elegance of the gardens. Whether you’re admiring the vibrant flower beds or gazing up at the impressive trees, the beauty of the space is undeniable.

While much of the garden is accessible, it’s worth noting that some parts of the paths can be a bit challenging for wheelchair users due to uneven terrain. However, it’s still a very enjoyable experience, and visitors can easily navigate the more accessible areas without missing out on the beauty of the gardens.
