beautiful change for altona dog beach!!! Really nice, cleaner( still coyld be a bit better), nice entrance, nice closed green areas for dogs to play, even for small ones as the fence is good closed, they also put 3 water fountains tp wash your feet and shoes. Unfortunately only one is working, the other 2 are completely blocked , water is around as they are wrongly designed and water is not going away. Maybe they will be fixed....one day....Anyway, good Council, you can absolutely see it is not Whindham council!!!!! As this Council in Altona is really interested what people need, something else than the basic needs: food, like in Whindham!!! Can you please give some serious lessons to the incapable workers from Whindham Council?? Can you please teach them ( if it is possible) that people need more than houses in their lifes????? Can you please teach them how to make a nice park, not like Point Cook park??? Can you please teach them how to build a really good shopping centre wirh good shops not like useless Point Cook shopping centre, small for the milions of houses surounding it?? Can you please give them at least a minimum of basic idea what means to be a counselor, as rhey do not...

I was disappointed to find that this is not the amazing beach I was led to believe it is šŸ˜” Situated close to Seaholme station, which unfortunately has not one shop or cafĆ©, I found the dog beach (as opposed to the main beach in Altona) very unpleasant. Narrow, full of old, rotting seaweed, a terrible smell near the start of the beach, dog poo everywhere, irresponsible humans who seem unaware of, and ignore, their dog's dominant and aggressive behaviour, dirty-looking sea water, a bicycle path too close to the beach and located in between the beach and dog park - separating the two, and a ordinary, but large, reserve attached. I like Altona, it's a suburb that has a lot to offer. The dog beach, however, was not worth the travel. Will not be going back any time soon. Plenty of good dog beaches in Melbourne....

A Must-Visit for Dog Lovers!

This Beach is an absolute gem for dog owners! I recently took my dog there, and he had the time of his life running along the shore and swimming in the shallow waters. The tide was receding during our visit, so I didn’t swim myself, but it created the perfect environment for my dog to play and socialise with other dogs, also the slightly sloped ground gave my dog plenty of space to run into the water gradually before it got too deep, which is ideal for dogs of all sizes. The beach is well-thought-out for visitors, with plenty of parking available nearby.

This has quickly become one of my favourite spots to take my dog, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a dog-friendly...

Altona Dog Beach is my dog’s favourite go-to place. At low tide it’s a huge open space with sand and water for dogs to run, swim, and play. There’s also a dog park nearby and shower stations which are really handy. Like anywhere with lots of dogs, you are relying on everyone using a bit of common sense. If your dog is shy, easily overwhelmed, or doesn’t do well in high-energy environments, it’s best to avoid the busy times. I usually go during the week at off-peak hours, and it’s always a much calmer, safer experience. Pick your spot, pick your time, and it’s a fantastic place for dogs and owners to enjoy. Highly recommend.

Great dog beach that is secure and has several taps/fountains, etc, for rinsing your dog after and for water. Depending on the tide, there's lots of space for the dogs to run around and even when tide is in, water is shallow. Haven't encountered any irresponsible dog owners yet, but like all dog parks/beaches you just have to keep an eye out. Can be very busy on weekends and when weather is hot, so may be overwhelming for shy dogs. Also has an off-lead enclosed dog area away from the beach if you don't want your dog getting dirty!
