As with a number of Parks Vic managed parks in this area they have been neglected for 10 plus years. Understandably the grass and weeds are out of control due to weather and covid from the last few years. Lovely views and walks. No toilets. Two large decent picnic tables near carpark. An old rotting Park bench further down on the path. Often no one else there so a good place to picnic and avoid the crowds. Also close enough to walk to Sky-high if you are short on a bob. Walkers don't get charged, only cars etc

Enjoy a relaxing sensory experience of walking under mature tree canopies, scrunching on aromatic pine needles and looking upward through branches to the sky, it contains a collection of maturing deciduous trees and conifers from around the world. 'Arboretum' is a Latin word meaning a place for trees and an Arboretum can simply be called a 'tree museum'. The collection includes spectacular trees from around the world including eight that are listed in the National Trust's significant tree registe.

Could be so much better. There are hardly any tree identification signs left, ivy and blackberries are encroaching and very few trails and benches, absolutely no signage about the history, species planted. A little bit of TLC would go a very long way. Nevertheless it’s great to see so many old mature trees from around the world in one place.

To the right of the carpark, stunning high views offer a glimpse of the valley and the treetops. An ideal spot for a picnic. The arboretum is not like a landscaped park, it is just a wild and natural grove of trees where one can enjoy a slow stroll among a wide variety of enormous, interesting trees. A few are labelled. I also found the driv from Ferntree Gully, on Dandenong Tourist Road,...
