Any part of Mt Dandenong is nice! The Mount Dandenong Observatory is just superbly nice- accessible by anybody via many means! The uninterrupted views of city skyline and the Port Philip Bay, as far as the You Yangs!! There are three eating precincts to help deliver the wine and dine with the view!! There is an outdoor cafe kiosk for the garden goers. A major restaurant and take away eatery with both inner dining or outdoor seating. The function room is upstairs for bookings. Big limousines are common scenes here! There’s bbq and picnic facilities for big groups. Don’t forget to hunt for the trig point as this is the Highest point in Melbourne of just below 900m. The giant chair is a must to prove you have been here. The nature walks are lovely. It even snows up here in winter sometimes! Tourist buses frequent here. Cars need to pay entrance fees of $5 (to help maintain the road. Diners at the Mt Dandenong Observatory earn a free pass for the next trip). 20 minute bus ride via the 688 bus from Upper Fern Tree Gully station. The able bodies are welcome to cycle or walk up! A minimum day or week up to the Mt Dandenongs area is a must when you visit MELBOURNE! The many many towns along the way reminds one of European flavours! Ssasafras, Kallista , Emerald, Monbulk, Kalorama, The world famous volunteer run Puffing Billy at Belgrave,.... the many many exotic gardens and sculptures - The Alfred Nicole Garden, George Tindale Garden, the Dandenong Botanical Garden (formerly Rhododendron Garden), .. William Rickets Santuary,.... and many other private gardens.. Thank you May Moon for putting up endless fights to preserve the forest for public enjoyment at the Mount Dandenong’s. Mount Dandenong Observatory is located at 26 Observatory Rd, Mount Dandenong, Vic 3767. This wonderful location is amongst the best places in the Dandenong Ranges for experiencing magnificent views of the Melbourne CBD & Port Phillip Bay on a clear day. Having lived in the Dandenong Ranges in my earlier years, it was fantastic to be able to revist this unique place, which over the years has grown to become an integral place for locals to obtain employment at the Ski High Bistro & Restaurant, which offers snacks & coffee ☕️ or other light refreshments. The restaurant is well worth the time spent enjoying a meal & taking the views in particular at night 🌙 I found the Customer Service to be friendly and helpful. They are definitely there to ensure that you enjoy your time at this wonderful location. Any further information about Menu's, bookings for corporate engagements or anything please contact the friendly staff or check their website There is an entry fee at the main entrance to Mount Dandenong Observatory of $8.00. There was plenty of adequate parking for everyone, including bus & disabling parking on the lower & upper levels. From the early days of this wonderful place to what it now offers, the Mount Dandenong Observatory is definitely one place to enjoy & take in the wonderful views of the Dandenongs & surrounding areas.
