This place is a joke! Firstly, I called the day before my arrival to state I was coming in the afternoon the following day, they told me what they had available, the price and that there would be a bond. When we arrived the following day, they told me the price (which was different from the previous price) and when I questioned them on it they told me they wasn’t sure who gave that price because it was wrong (even though I could tell by his voice it was him)... anyway, we paid and booked in for a week.
The room smelt damp and was extremely dated, the TV did not work, the fridge was not turned on, the mattress protecter was disgusting and there was dust all over the bench top. The ‘camp kitchen’ is more... two gas rings and spiderwebs - there’s no pots, the single frying pan was rusty and the oven nor the grill worked. The following day we were aggressively told that we were wrong to put recyclables in the recycle bin as it’s only for 10c bottles, put them recyclables in general waste... so they’re doing there part for he environment clearly. On the third day our amenities block failed, no electricity and no hot water... when we told them they said there’s nothing they can do until the following day (even though it was only 3.30pm) and we were told to use the other one on the other side of the campground. The final straw was when the window seal started to leak during a rain downpour, we called the out of hours number and their response was to “stop calling the f*ing number before he comes down there and breaks the window”, I continued to say what the problem was but just received aggressive abuse which made me feel uncomfortable staying another night... I asked them if we could check out there and then as we did no longer want to stay and they flat out refused. We left and messaged our bond refund details and asked if we could have it back and the remaining days as we no longer felt comfortable staying. We proceeded to leave the place... better than we found it, literally. He then called listing off imaginary charges to which he would take from our bond and when we asked for pictures of what he was listing, he said he couldn’t provide them as his mobile didn’t take pictures.
This place is beyond a joke and the couple that run the place are rude, aggressive and we assume drink quite a bit also due to their mannerism throughout our time...
Read moreWe stayed at this park for almost a week and can see why people like this park and others hate it. It's all down to the site you get and what time you are there. We were there over Easter where it was quiet, but from Easter Tuesday, the amount of trucks that went past, made it clear we were on a highway. We hardly got any sleep on our last night. I would never stay here without an ensuite site. Otherwise there is only one male and one female toilet and shower for ALL non ensuite/cabin residents. By the way the shower has a curtain and not a lockable door. The cabins range from old to extremely old in style and presentation. There are little things the park could do without needing a lot of money which include: better water pressure, make sure silage actually drains, fan in bathrooms, turn on fridges in cabins before guests arrive so they feel welcome, be happy to see visitors on arrival, have more level sites, upgrade camp kitchen, clean bathrooms by removing all spiderwebs and budget to upgrade them as they are all original, have more toilets and bathrooms available, upgrade playground, heat the pool, repair the games in the games room so they are usable, don't charge residents when they want to play tennis in the tennis court which should be part of the package like all other caravan parks, fix the pot holes in the road so children can use their bikes. As I said original it does depend on which site you get, but on our stay, not one person was happy, and even management said it was hard to keep anyone happy. The park has a lot of potential, but charging people to play tennis and not cleaning showed me where they were at. Sorry - don't enjoy leaving...
Read moreConveniently Located Caravan Park with Great Amenities and Friendly Management
We recently stayed at this caravan park near the Mount Gambier Marketplace shopping centre, and were pleasantly surprised by the improvements and upgrades under the new management. In the past, the park had received some negative reviews and was known to be a bit run-down, but it’s clear the current owners are dedicated to revitalising it. They are friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to accommodate us, especially when my husband had to be hospitalised in Mount Gambier.
The park itself has a range of amenities that cater to a variety of needs. Many of the sites come with ensuites, and the ablution blocks were consistently clean. There’s a well-equipped camp kitchen with BBQs, a cooktop, a microwave, and a fridge, as well as additional BBQ gazebos throughout the park. The laundry facilities include three washing machines and dryers, and there's even a baby’s bathroom.
For pet owners, there’s an enclosed dog area repurposed from an old tennis court, which is very convenient. There’s also a swimming pool on-site and several on-site accommodation units for those who prefer a more comfortable option.
One of the best perks is the park's proximity to the shopping center, which includes Big W, Woolworths, a chemist, and specialty stores, plus a Bunnings within walking distance.
Overall, it’s a comfortable, well-located, and friendly place to stay in Mount Gambier. The efforts of the new management really show, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone...
