Spent a few hours here while in Orange. Family really enjoyed. Highly recommend it. Bit of something for everyone. So peaceful and just a lovely place to enjoy nature. The walk around the lake was very manageable even for kids. Ours were between 5 and 9 years. There are 2 little sandy 'beaches' on either side of the lake. Kids enjoyed that, as they did the playground on both sides of the lake. Lots of picnic tables or simply set up under a shady tree!

Driving from Cowra to Orange, we drove through Canowindra, then to Lake Canobolas which is about 1hr from Cowra, or 15mins from Orange. It’s a great picnic area with BBQs, and has a nice Lakeshore Cafe wth indoor and outdoor seating areas. You can walk over the lake bridge to the other side, or drive there. Gates close at 7pm when we visited in October. #LakeCanobolasNSW #LakeshoreCafe #LakeshoreCafeLakeCanobolas

A great spot in the summer. Fast to get to and plenty of parking. Not crowed out. Swimming was great. Water was refreshing but not cold. Swim platforms are anchored a short distance off the beaches. There is clean sand and grass perfect for picnics. A kiosk is available for coffee, cold drinks, snacks and ice creams. The dam is perfect for swimming with the ducks.

Has a range of activities with the changing of the seasons including cycling, sailing, canoeing, walking, swimming, triathlons and dragon boating. And an Adventure Playground for the kids on the eastern bank before. There’s a Lakehouse kiosk which sells ice blocks and coffees !!

There are numerous picnic areas, barbecues and fishing spots as well! A walking track around the lake and is a haven for native birds and other wildlife. Absolutely beautiful...
