As a local Territorian, I was extremely disappointed and quite embarrassed during this tour for the tourists that believed they would be provided a good experience.
Particularly due to the amount of effort and funding that is placed into Top End NT Tourism.
The tour information was inaccurate and is technically false advertising. The tour information stated that an opportunity to purchase food at a local tavern would be provided (yet, the tour does not even travel near the tavern). This is quite an issue when expected to be at a pick up point at 7:30am, then to go on a â4 hour tourâ. Luckily enough, a few food options were available at the viewing platform prior to the cruise to purchase but that isnât what was advertised.
The tour ran an hour late, requiring the tour guide to take the guests to another location not far from the cruise point to distract from the fact that they would now be back an hour and a half later then expected.
All the above couldâve been forgiven, if the tour/cruise was at least worth the amount of money paid. Less then a kilometre down the river was travelled (and two crocodiles seen) while listening to the guests on the cruise be disrespected/hounded by the tour guide/boat operator. Safety points made are fair and understandable, but to come across that rude and persistent does not create positive outcomes or discussions for our tourism. I felt embarrassed for the older people on the boat and could see the look of disappointment on their faces.
Again, 2 crocodiles visited on the âSpectacular Crocodile Cruiseâ in a river of over 10,000 or more is quite concerning. I want to laugh, but Iâm actually still in a state of disbelief.
I had to apologise to my partner who was visiting from interstate as he couldnât believe how disgraceful the entire experience was.
Half a day in Darwin has been wasted, my partner had spent the past fortnight looking forward to this tour.
The only positive was the tour guide as she was lovely and knowledgeable, but we honestly couldnât wait for the entire...
Read moreWell we saw 1 docile Crocodile that had no real interest in food. Total waste of time. After taking our money $170 for the bus trip including the jumping Crocodile exibit. There was around 80 of us in 2 busea. Very profitable.
After boarding the boat and spending sometime searching for a crocodile we were told it was the wrong time of year to see the Crocodile. During hot periods they sit on the river bottom keeping cool. Was so so annoyed as we only had limited time in Darwin. The tour should never have been operating. Having seen Crocodiles previously in the wild there usually very visible.
Such an interesting response from the people who took our money and run this Jumping Crocodile tour. They ran this even tour even though they knew there is little to see at this time of year. The driver of the boat we were on told us it was the wrong time to see the Crocodiles as they stay out of the heat.
The comments by the proprietors is totally inappropriate. I do not wish anything bad for the animals. But taking money off many 2 bus loads ot people who come to see the Famous Jumping Crocodile when the proprietors know its to hot and the visitors will probably see nothing. This is theft. Utter disgraceful and this response from them proves their irresponsibility. I would NOT RECOMMEND these people and will be writing the Tourism NT when I get home
You say you have told me 3 times. Maybe your mixing my comments up with others who have complained. Im sure there have been many. How disappointing and unaustralian.
I see you have now removed...
Read moreAfter our visit to Litchfield NP, we wanted to do a crocodile cruise on our way back to Darwin. There are two companies on the Adelaide River just below Humpty Doo and based literary next to each other. Weâve chosen for the Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruise as they were $15 cheaper and because they are an indigenous owned non-profit company and their profit flows back into their community. The tour took around 75 minutes and was really amazing. We saw heaps of crocs and they came really up close, the knowledge and storytelling by the guide was amazing, he was like a walking encyclopedia of facts and stories about the river and crocs. An extra bonus was the feeding of the flying kites on our way back. Overall, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this place. On top, when I was back at home, I saw the commercial of their competitor on the telly and noticed they use a different kind of boat which has two levels and doesnât get that close, which was an additional confirmation for me that I made the right choice. A tip for future visitors, keep your eyes open on your way to the property and while you are waiting, there are heaps of cross to spot. Also, a suggestion to the company is to include some more indigenous information about the area and the crocs as that would complementary the overall story but also make you more unique towards your...
