Lake Crackenback — Attraction in Perisher Valley

We stayed in apartment 46 with a lake view. It cost us $6.3K. On entering the apartment the stench was unbearable, we had to immediately ring reception to have the drains cleaned. The kitchen benchtops were worn, with big holes in the laminate. The decor was dated and everything smelled musty. The beds were singles pushed together, normally these would zip together but the zips were broken and the mattresses were mismatched making the bed uneven. The mattresses came apart while we were sleeping - not a pleasant experience! When we complained to reception in the morning the manager pushed all the responsibility onto the owner and claimed the resort couldn't do anything to fix the mattress. The resort put a mattress topper over the mattresses and that was it. They still came apart when sleeping and were very uncomfortable given one mattress was higher than the other. Not good enough! We cut our holiday 1 night short as we were desperate to get back to our own beds. We paid the resort, not the apartment owner, so the contract for service is with the resort who apparently have no power to do anything and don't look after the interests of their guests. Beatiful serene place, lovely scenic place, nice to go for a walk, there is archeries, heated swimming pools, sauna, and few other activities to do there. There isn't much shops or eateries in that place, only one restaurant was open for dinner and they didn't have any lights or street lights around that place, need to use a torchlight to look what you are stepping and where...

Looked like a stunning little sleepy alpine village at the foothills of Thredbo and Kosciosco national park. Imagine this place in the snow, it’d be an absalute dream.
