Oaks Lake Crackenback Resort — Hotel in Crackenback

Brace yourself, we had a terrible experience and I really want to share t with you so that you know how terrible management is.

Staying here was such a dissapointment for the price. Honestly you’re better off going to New Zealand or soemthing. It’s over $600 per night. For this reason we researched the best hotels in the area and if this is the best please don’t bother going.

As soon as we arrived the room STUNK like I can’t even explain, closest would be rotting fish.

We called reception who said they would send cleaning over to fix it up, they also told us the cleaning manager was aware of it. Clearly she thought if we arrived to a closed off stinky room, it would be less offensive than opening some curtains and windows.

The cleaners come and knock on our door and hand us a eucalyptus spray. They don’t even come and fix it.

The floor in the kitchen has pasta and crumbs all through it, the balcony had ciggerette ashes. The fireplace had soot all through the tiles in front of it. The cupboards near the door were filthy and full of JUNK.

We let reception know. They didn’t get us another room and said cleaners have left for the day. They didn’t send the cleaners back to fix it. They just said we can have a bottle of wine and that the cleaners had now left for the day, and would be here first thing in the morning to fix up the smell. So we sat in this putrid smell all night.

I would also like to mention there were food crumbs and bits all through the kitchen floor. Soot & geime all in front of the fireplace, and cigferette ash all outside on our balcony!!

Well the next day we went out skiing all day from 8-3pm. When we got back the room hadn’t been touched and STILL STUNK LIKE ROTTING FISH. The last thing we wanted was cleaners coming and cleaning around us after we were so sore and tired and wanting to relax.

I called reception to find out what happened and why this STILL hadn’t been made right. They said he cleaners had others rooms to do first for all the checking in guests. Fair enough but we clearly didn’t get the same courtesy. And we still weren’t. I mean we booked this place after a lot of research and were happy to pay so much money because we wanted a great place to stay. But it was awful. I don’t even keep my home this dirty.

Anyway reception said they would have someone over first thing again. Sure enough after our second day of skiing we get back to the room at 1.30pm to have a bath and relax, as soon as we walked in we saw the cleaners still hadn’t come and it still stinks. This is our 3rd night in.

The cleaners knocked on our door not long after but at this point we are tired and aching and want to nap.

Management I would like an explanation? Feel free to comment. The people working at the time did nothing to correct this or make it right. A $40 bottle of something doesn’t make up for the $4000 we spent that weekend...
