Just arrived a couple of days ago with our caravan in Phillip Island. Here to spend Christmas with my 85 year old parents who are unwell. Parked the van in their driveway as our adult children arrive tomorrow and will stay in the house. Inquired at Anchor Belle Holiday Park about using their dump point and said we didn't mind paying a fee (which the council told me has happened on the Island,) as there is NO public dump point , the closest being Korumburra, 77kms away which is over an hour's drive. The manager at Anchor Belle said that they would charge me a daily SITE CHARGE to use the dump point which is absolute highway robbery and a total disgrace! A powered site costs $51 rising to $81 after Christmas! I told her she was encouraging people to dump waste in the bush but she couldn't have cared less! ( This is something we would never do!) NO Christmas cheer at this place! She even sent her lackey out to write down our number plate in case we tried to sneak in and use her dump point! There is no way I would recommend this park to ANYONE! GOOD NEWS! NRMA HOLIDAY PARK, which is on the same road but closer to Cowes, CAME TO THE RESCUE.$5 to use their dump point and the manager, Kellie was so lovely and kind! Very professional too, unlike the manager at Anchor Belle! She certainly restored my faith...
Read moreOverall we really enjoyed our stay. We were actually told by family that it was one of the oldest parks on the Island. This surprised me due to the cleanliness of the facilities. We also loved the number of kids activities (and so did they)! The receptionist was very welcoming and while she was busy at the time, made time to say goodbye when checking out. The absolute only thing that dampened the mood was that we did have a booking a month or so prior which we had to cancel because we were unwell. We took this as a precaution due to COVID19 which was really hard, having to cancel a family holiday with the potential that it was just a cold. Even though we asked if they could hold our funds for a future trip they wouldn't refund our money - we only received 50%. In the end we tested positive 2 days later and once recovered we made another booking (like we said we would). I would have thought that because we were trying to do the right thing (by protecting the caravan park and Phillip Island) that maybe that could have been returned?? I do understand that this was part of their terms and conditions... but geewiz it just didn't sit right with us. Would we...
Read moreWe have family at Philip Island so we often go over and stay. We left it too late this year to go to any of our regular caravan parks and this was the only caravan park that had availability. Now I know why they still had availability even at the busiest time of the year.||It is way too far out of town, if you have young kids it is definitely not walking distance into town, and the staff were awful!||We were camping and booked powered sites (one of the sites actually had no power). When we arrived, we were an hour early but as we only booked camping sites didn't think it would be an issue. While one lady on the desk was friendly, the other lady stood in the background and commented 'It was her she wouldn't check us in'. Thought that was an odd way to greet guests. That was a glimpse of what was to come. She was uptight, unapproachable, unfriendly, and just plain rude. It is a family fun park, but the family that run it are all as bad as each other. ||I am not a keyboard warrior, I don't take giving bad reviews lightly, in fact I have never left one before, but this was the worst experience I have had in my life. Do...
