Tintilla Estate Wines — Attraction in Pokolbin

Staying in the Hunter Valley for a few days with family from the UK this was recommended by the owner of the accommodation we are staying in. Firstly, what a brilliant experience, superb wines, try the sparking Rose, perfect for a summer afternoon, the Sangiovese Merlot something special and the reserve Syrah big bold and Australia in a glass. Had a fabulous host who was very mater of fact- he informed and engaged- we had the olive tasting plate which was next level delicious. Loads of beautiful condiments to try and buy but for my money the lemon Myrtle olive oil Devine! This family owned and operated vineyard is well worth a visit - leaves the big names in the shade. Though we had heard and read reasonable reviews, Tintilla is not our favourite winery. Wines are fine, though middle of the road (our groups opinion). Venue is in a nice location, though lacks some of the finer aspects of other local cellar doors. The service, though nice enough, was not overwhelming, more family/backyard than a professional feel. We walked in, sat down, are were served warmer wines, with the excuse that it had been busy. Acknowledge it was Easter long weekend, but... Unlike other cellars doors, no real personal experience. I attended Tintilla Estate on Friday with my partner and in laws. We had both been to Tintilla before and had an incredible experience so we returned to let the in laws share the experience! Again, we had a very enjoyable time. Our wine tasting sommelier (Belinda) was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable and made the tasting loads of fun. We all shared the delicious and unforgettable olive tasting platter and the deliciously cheese platter which was made up of some of our favourite cheeses from Binnorie Cheese shop in Hunter Valley.
