Mt Tomaree is one of Port Stephens' most gorgeous vantage points. It's approximately 160m in elevation and a couple km long, meaning it can get a little steep at times. That being said, the walk isn't too challenging and the views are absolutely spectacular!

On the west side of the mountain, you are rewarded with views over Shoal Bay; to the south, you have stunning views of Fingal Bay; and from the top, you have views over the ocean. What more could you ask for? There are also gun emplacements dotted across the northern side of Mt Tomaree that are quite interesting to explore.

Going from bottom to top, it may take you between 30 to 50mins depending on your fitness levels, but it is achievable. Highly recommended if you're...

Short, easy walk to the summit. Closed shoes are recommended. There is no mud, but the paved road can be slippery. About halfway there the stairs start. We went on a cloudy day and the summit was windy but not too bad. Fantastic views of Zenith Beach and the other bays, and around the summit you have a 360 view. If you have done other hikes this one is fairly easy and quick. The views are beautiful, I definitely recommend it. Be warned tough, it might be closed when you go: there are signs that say this trail will be closed from April 26th to June 2nd, 2023, to enable the installation of new...

It was a beautiful hike!

It was a very hot day so my girlfriend and I took a couple L with us. We were worried that it was going to be very hard since it looked steep from the trail head and it's rated as a Grade 5 hike. The hardest part was actually the beginning where it's paved. It was really steep. Once we hit the metal stairs it got a lot easier. We saw an older local gent hiked up and down twice before we made it up the top! It took us about 1 hr to go up and a little under 45 min to come down. We're both in our 30s and in OK shape.

The view at the top was well worth it!...
