The Singleton Sundial is the largest sundial found in the southern hemisphere. The sundial was handed to the people of Singleton on the 20th of March, 1987, along with a certificate from Guinness Book of Records as been the largest sundial in the world at that time. The sandstone retaining wall at the base is constructed from convict hewn street stones from Singletons early history. Facts about the sundial, 14.6 meters long, 7.92 meters high. 2.5km of steel reinforcement was used in its construction. The gnomon is 12 meters long and the total weight of the structure is 30 tonnes.

It’s had its heyday… Just needs a little TLC to really spruce it up…

No longer the biggest in the world - but still impressive. Clean also. Shame it didn’t have the instructions sign on how to read the time :-( Worth a quarter of an hour visit if in the area, the outlook from the vantage point is lovely! Kids enjoyed it, trying to figure out what...

Absolutely awesome and the time was spot on if the world ever had a nuclear holocaust and the was no technology I would come here to get the time. It's great to see we can still revert back to our old ways if need be. Well done singleton for hosting this...
