Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo is located at 1638 Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah QLD 4519. This magnificent conservation Zoo is open to the public 7 days a week & to save waiting in the queues, it is advisable to purchase your tickets in advance š Steve & Terri Irwin's vision was to make the Australia Zoo the biggest & best wildlife conservation in the world & by my reckoning, they have definitely done that by a country mile. Australia Zoo is located on 700 acres with 110 acres open to the general public. I had the pleasure to visit along with a group of people from Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch on the 4th of September 2024, the majority visiting this place for the first time. I was most impressed by the staff in Australia. Zoo, in the way, they made everyone feel so welcome. Australia Zoo is very well organised with plenty of signage to help you find further information & where to enjoy your wildlife conservation experience š I found that walking around this place to be very relaxing & comfortable, having a good pair of walking shoes is advisable. You can take your own food š into Australia Zoo, or you can relax & enjoy an excellent menu selection at the Crikey Cafe. There are other places throughout the zoo where you can purchase food & drinks. Australia Zoo ensures that all the animals, whether it be Tigers š , elephants š, giraffes š¦, leopards š, crocodiles š, or Aligattors & many other animals, have a natural environment, nothing is left to chance. There is an excellent Australia Zoo wildlife hospital located near the main entrance, which ensures that all animals are treated if injured or require surgery. There are plenty of options, including visiting & purchasing clothing similar to what the hundreds of staff wear at Australia Zoo. The gift shop also offers many other excellent gifts for all ages. The highlights during your time at Australia Zoo are to attend one of the live wildlife activities that the staff go to great lengths to ensure everything is an enjoyable exercise š The Crocoseum is definitely a great viewing place where you can see the public showing how crocodiles live & behave in the wild. The clear water showing where you can clearly see the crocodiles provides excellent viewing & and the trained staff provide running commentary during the show š I can highly recommend a day out at Australia Zoo, which is only about an hours drive from Brisbane. We spent around 5 hours at this wildlife conservation Zoo, but we could have enjoyed more time, so there will be another day planned in the future š Steve Irwin & now his family have definitely left their mark on ensuring that wildlife conservation is in good shape.

First of all, this is THE ZOO of Steve Irwin. That, alone, should spur the interest of about half of you. If you don't know who he is, well the zoo, itself, will get the rest of you. As an American, this zoo allowed me to see so many of the Australian animals that I was hoping to see. I've been to a lot of zoos in the US and this one offered so many animals I've never seen. The range is from all the ways Australia is trying to kill you to all the cutest animals you'll ever see. The shows and encounters are plentiful. You literally could spend all day with the keepers learning about these amazing animals and being treated with a showcase of their abilities. I didn't get to get to a lot of them but the ones I did were amazing and were covered in the admission, other than roo food (explanation later). The Crocoseum with the "Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warriors Show" was really amazing from the birds to the croc. It has all of the Steve Irwin feels. Encountering the koalas up close was fantastic. It was a must on my list. Then you had the opportunity to get up close with kangaroos and, if you purchased Roo Food and the Guest Experiences booth for $3, then you could feed them. Some ate from your hand and others would rather eat from the ground. There are two areas in the zoo for a kangaroo experience so if one area is over crowded, try and go to another. Lastly, we had lunch there as well. The cafe offered a few choices of prepared food that you grabbed from the warmers. The prices are on par with eating out locally. I had a burger and chips (fries) and the burger was large, had mixed greens, tomatoes, and a little BBQ sauce. It was good, not great, but better than most other zoo food. I'm not sure if the patties are frozen but something was a little off about the flavor. The chips are enough to feed two people. The serving sizes are generous. Overall, this is a great zoo with a lot of animals you may have never seen in your life and loads of opportunities to learn more about all of them. I'd highly recommend it

Not the world's greatest zoo but good coverage of native Australian fauna. The shuttle service has limited coverage (and stops at 4 pm despite what the signage says!). Long queues for food at the cafe although plenty of vending machines throughout the zoo. The photography service is slow and inefficient, and the primitive USB sticks supplied are not compatible with all computers. The Crocoseum show is excellent with a surprise appearance by Robert Irwin who now puts on almost as good a show as his famous late father, Steve (but without the Crikey!). The Tiger show is also good but seating is limited and you are likely to miss out if you get there less than 15 mins before show time (usually 11:00 and 14:30 each day). Plan your trip well ahead to avoid inefficient routing, although show times are poorly matched to an optimal route. Ideally they should be timed so that you can walk from the entrance around the whole zoo going from live show to live show. The maps are also not well designed with the 'through' path not always obvious. "Encounters" are pricey and unfairly prohibit taking your own shots to supplement the official ones. On the other hand the free kangaroo and koala walk-thru areas are impressive, and you can take your own photos there. The Wildlife Hospital Sneak Peek is highly recommended and deserves more promotion. It's hiding on the far side of the P2 carpark but definitely include it in your visit plans - the work they do there is world class. Highly recommended (especially for breakfast) is the Warrior Restaurant located in the zoo's Lodge precinct about a 5 minute drive from the main zoo entrance. It also has EV charging facilities there (but not in the main P1 or P2 carparks so far as I could see). There is a line for pre-purchased ticket holders but it is unsigned - usually the entry turnstile furthest from the gift shop. In summary, definitely recommended but best if you plan your visit ahead of time and don't have too high expectations.

It is the best, most beautiful, well-maintained, most comprehensive, ideally designed zoo with the rarest animals that I have ever seen in my life. An area has been created as if the animals were living in their own nature. Just buy your ticket and go. They give a map of the zoo at the entrance. They show the feeding times of some animals and give interesting information. These show times are also written on the same paper. Definitely don't miss it. Immediately after passing through the entrance, the staff greets you with a parrot, a rare species of lizard and a snake. You can see these creatures up close and take photos with them. Afterwards, at 10:00, there is the feeding time of the great land turtle. In this way, you can see the old animal walking. After this area, I recommend you enter the cave where the snakes are. Afterwards, the kangaroo and koala park welcomes you. Next, you enter the giant cage where the birds are kept. Tiger feeding time is 11.00. You are on the right track. You approach the Asian animals section and you will see a rare tiger, of which there are 250 left in the world. The elephants have feeding time at 12.00. Very close to the tiger. The red panda located between tiger and elephants. From there, I recommend you go to the African animals section. It is possible to see giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and rhinos. At the very end of the track, one of my favorites, the meerkats, are also there. On your way back, I recommend you to visit the island where the lemurs are located and catch the Croco show at 1.15. It would be logical to choose a seat that overlooks the area. It is a show that lasts 45-50 minutes and is simply amazing. Afterwards, koalas and crocodiles are visited, and finally there are hedgehog feeding times at 15.00 and otter feeding times at 15.30. I recommend you not to miss them either. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the establishment of this zoo.

It's hard to express how amazing The Australia zoo is. I've been coming here since I was a child, I was lucky enough to see Steve perform when I was younger and the place really has just gone from strength to strength. We spent the whole day there and I still feel I need more time. Truly an incredible place. You're going to notice straight away the animals here just look happy. They are well cared for. Conservation really is this places goal and the message they send in regards to it is simply amazing. I love getting to see some international animals, but I find the strength of this place comes from the native Australian wildlife they have. It's an amazing experience to see the rare hairy nose Wombat out and about. You get to interact with kangaroos and koalas as well. The lemurs are just chilling in the trees on the island, it's relaxed and amazing to see these animals. The staff are super informative and the shows are quite cool. This place loves their crocs, just wait to you see them. Some are just so big and some require 2 fences... You might recognise them from the crocodile Hunter show a long time ago. They are still the same crocs. Watching the power and force of these magnificent creatures is a speciality that Australia zoo enjoy providing. You'll get to see them move through the water, on land and use their tales to launch out of the water for food. It's a must watch The parrots, raptors and other birds will fly around the stadium. They are not scared of people and it's a lot of fun to watch. One of the birds broke character and went to a lady in the audience for food. Definitely not shy It's a must visit for any animal lover and if you want to learn about Australian wildlife and conservation efforts, not many places in the world can teach it like this.
