From the town Coolum, continue driving interland to Kenilworth-Cambroon, rural areas with astonishing mountain views and peaceful little town. You can spend a night to a free campsite called Little Yabba Creek, dog friendly, unpowered site with compostable clean toilets. The area is peaceful and quiet with respectful campers. You can also swim onto the clear waters of Yabba creek just close to the campsite. If you want nature feels, you can enjoy a 1.1km rainforest circuit walk called Fig Tree Walk and hear the birds sing along. This is my favorite camping site because it's free and very well maintained. I feel at peace and renewed my energy...

Excellent spot to spend a few hours having a picnic, swimmimg in the creek, or just relaxing under the trees. There are picnic tables and a boardwalk is located nearby. Across the road are more day trip areas and camping for one night only is also permitted. Public toilets are also situated in this area as well. On the day we were there, Australia Day , they were quite smelly. Turn off to Charlie Moreland is just a few metres away when travelling from Kenilworth. Further down the road is the turn off to...

This has probably been my favorite campsite since exploring the area more, free for one night so already can't complain, access to free bbqs and a compost toilet which doesn't smell fantastic but that's camping man.

Really well maintained and fires are allowed, would urge more people to stick to the already used grounds where past fires have been made as there were more burnt circles than I thought necessary.

The creek is beautiful...

Small but delightful place to free camp (no booking needed) on the Mary River. Lots of native vegetation and wildlife (we saw bush turkeys, kingfishers, carpet pythons,Black Bean trees and Queensland Lacebarks). Toilets available (walk under the bridge if you're camped on the other side like we were). Great place to relax for an evening and there is a Fig Tree Walk across the bridge too! Beautiful free camp located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. A crystal clear creek wraps around the park which features flat grassy camps, drop toilets, plenty of rubbish bins, fire pits and BBQ’s. Truly such a peaceful place to wake up in the morning and just down the road from Kenilworth. Huge thanks to the local council for supplying this facility.
