NEVER FORGET TO TAKE A RECEIPT HERE OR ELSE THEY'LL LABEL YOU A THIEF!!!
Very bad experience with the stall for 'Fresh fruit team' located exactly in the centre of Parklea market. I bought a bag of onions while paying and told the checkout lady that I will collect it from outside. Usually they ask if you want a receipt, luckily I took the receipt. I can only imagine what would have happened if i didn't. We had a pram so i didn't carry a trolley and picked the 10kg bag in my hand. My wife and toddler were waiting outside and my wife went to another stall while I waited for her outside the Fresh fruit team stall. The owner, Nasser, asked me to move as they wanted to move the pallet and I obliged though inconvenient. My wife came back and we were off to our car as the bag was getting heavier. Half way in a crowded spot the owner shouted and stopped me and asked me for a receipt to confirm. I had to put the bag down and search from the bags in the pram for it. I showed the receipt and told I had informed the checkout girl. The owner was rude and said she doesn't remember and he took more than a minute to examine my receipt which barely had 5 items with onions being the most expensive. Moreover he was examining like we were some thieves. Taking the receipt away and closer. Later instead of being courteous he rudely said you are good to go. When we said politely it was embarrassing and insulting for us the way he was dealing he started shouting and said "you show receipt at kmart but not here". I had no problem with showing the receipt but he is no kmart. Kmart are courteous and thankful for cooperating, they dont chase you as if you are a thief and check receipt while stepping out of the store. Moreover I was with a child and was literally waiting with the onion bag for more than 5 minutes outside his stall, I mean won't a thief already run away? I'm a regular and never had such experience in Australia leave alone Parklea. If you are still reading avoid 'The fresh fruit team' stall located at the centre who are incapable people of managing checkouts. Also ensure to take a receipt no matter how cumbersome it...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting the local market recently, and it was an absolute delight! This market is a hidden treasure trove of goodies that exceeded my expectations in many ways.
Firstly, the variety and affordability of fruits and vegetables are outstanding. You can find all sorts of fresh produce at prices that rival supermarkets. Plus, there are unique varieties that are hard to come by elsewhere, making it a paradise for food enthusiasts.
The abundance of toy shops and home and garden stores is a real treat. Whether you're shopping for kids or sprucing up your living space, this market has something for everyone. It's like a one-stop destination for all your household needs.
The selection of fast food restaurants is impressive too. From quick bites to international flavors, you can satisfy any craving. And for those looking to pair their meal with a nice bottle of wine, the small wine store adds a touch of sophistication to the market.
The fresh fish market is a standout feature. Not only do they offer a wide range of seafood, but their fish cut and clean service is a game-changer for those who prefer convenience without compromising on quality.
The garden shop is a green paradise. It's rare to find such a variety of plants at such affordable prices. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just looking to brighten up your space with some greenery, this place is a must-visit.
Lastly, the ample parking space available throughout the day is a significant advantage. No need to worry about finding a spot; you can leisurely explore all the market has to offer.

Read moreParklea Markets is one of those places where you feel like you get real value for money, especially for fresh vegetables and fruits. The market is best known for its big weekend opening (Saturday & Sunday), but what many people don’t realise is that Fridays are also worth visiting. That’s when vendors are setting up for the weekend, so the fruit and vegetable section is partially open and you can grab the freshest produce before the big crowds arrive.
The real charm, however, is on Sunday afternoons. As the market winds down, many stalls drop prices dramatically to clear stock - you can easily pick up bags of vegetables and fruit at heavily discounted prices. Perfect for families, bulk cooking, or anyone who enjoys a bargain.
Apart from fresh produce, weekends at Parklea Markets are buzzing. You’ll find everything from flowers, plants, deli items, and baked goods to clothes, homeware, and gift stalls. There are also plenty of food vendors serving multicultural street food, making it more than just a shopping trip - it’s a day out.
The atmosphere is lively, but not overwhelming if you plan your timing. Saturday mornings can get busy, so arriving early is smart for parking and the best pick of produce. Fridays are quieter, perfect if you just want vegetables without the full crowd.
The vendors are generally friendly, and most stalls accept cards, though it’s always handy to carry some cash. Parking is free but fills up quickly, so early arrival is recommended.
Overall, Parklea Markets is a fantastic spot for fresh produce, bargain prices, and a proper market experience. Whether you’re after a quick Friday vegetable run or a full weekend outing, this place has something...
