July 2021. The Cradle Mountain Interpretation Centre, although a nice facility, was truly lacking in the areas of staffing and directions. On numerous visits to the center, not one member of staff were in attendance. There was also a total lack of information as to how to access the shuttles that took you into the national park. All this considering it was peak winter season! Assuming the current Government have cut funding to a point that seems it worthwhile to be privatised... Hopefully this can be rectified soon as we weren't the only people lost. If you're attempting to board a shuttle bus from this location, you'll need to ensure you have obtained your bus passes from the visitor centre several kilometres down the road first. Otherwise you'll be denied access to the bus and left questioning which way to turn.

The conservation is really well-maintained and signed, making it easy to work out which walks you want to go on. The parking lot is huge and free, though the price to enter the park was a tad expensive (around $25/adult). It was incredibly busy when I went, which meant there was a 20 minute wait to get the shuttle bus back. The views and walks though were amazing!!

It was worth driving for 4 hours from Hobart and we forgot the detours we had to made due to fire when we arrived at Dove lake. If you are planning to visit the cradle Mountain allocate a whole day or two to visit all of the beautiful lakes within the national park. My pictures won’t be able to do the justice to beauty of this place.

The National Parks and Wildlife staff here are fantastic. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They supply information and maps of the park and make useful recommendations on suitable walks depending on how much time and the ability of the group. The info provided on what you should take when hiking is also useful and more should take note. You can but items you might need in the shop. Whilst it is expensive, it's not overinflated and the quality is good. There is a regular shuttle bus to take you to the start of each hike within the park as there is very little parking within the park. I've only given 4/5 as the coffee shop is not fantastic. Coffee is very average, Gluten free options are limited but satisfactory. No camping or hiking supplies are available here like trail mix or museli bars but you can get packaged sandwiches and...

Cradle Mountain is such a wonderful, pristine and important place. The interpretation centre however, is a disaster! We were looking for information about the local flora and fauna, some geological information as well as cultural and First Nations knowledge. Some history and future directions would have been of interest too. Instead it was a dusty, neglected collection of old photos, videos and artefacts, along with some very sad taxidermy. There was no guide or staff member. Cradle Mountain National Park deserves much better! Something bright, informative and interactive. I really hope this is a major consideration for...
