Rockhampton Botanic Garden is undeniably beautiful, and I enjoyed strolling through its lush landscapes and diverse plant collections.

The garden's well-designed pathways took me on a delightful journey through a wide variety of plant species, each more stunning than the last. The colorful blooms, lush greenery, and well-tended landscapes made for a picturesque and relaxing experience.

One of my favorite spots was the peaceful lake, where I could sit and unwind while enjoying the natural surroundings. The garden offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Rockhampton Botanic Garden is not only a beautiful place to explore but also an educational one. The informative signs and exhibits provided valuable insights into the diverse plant life, making the visit both enjoyable and enlightening.

However, I must mention that the area housing the bats was a bit of a disappointment.

The overpowering stench from the bat enclosure was a significant drawback to an otherwise pleasant visit. Additionally, I noticed some cleanliness issues in that particular section of the garden.

While I understand that bats are an essential part of the ecosystem, it would be beneficial for the management to address the odor and cleanliness concerns to enhance the overall visitor experience.

Aside from the bats' area, the rest of the garden was well-maintained, and the variety of flora made it a lovely place to explore. The garden's peaceful ambiance and educational exhibits were definite highlights.

I hope the management takes note of the feedback and works towards improving the...

Visited May 2025 The gardens are quite large. Being May there weren't many flowers in bloom making it a little visually boring . The plants around the floral clock needed a trim because you couldn't see it. I love Japanese gardens but I found this one without the wow factor. The banyan figs around the tea rooms provide lots of shade and are beautiful. Food is quite good from the tea rooms I had zucchini fritters with a small salad and my husband had the eggs benedict on a bed of bacon which he said was delicious. The blue eye honeyeaters and rainbow lorikeets jump on the tables wanting to be fed, you can almost touch them. There is a childrens playground not far from tea rooms but not close enough to keep an eye on your kids. Down at Murrays Lagoon many water birds along the banks and looking in the water from the wetland lookout are so many river turtles popping up looking for a feed. I would have liked to see information boards explaining the different gardens. The gardens are 33hectares which I googled is around 46 soccer fields (for those who need a comparison, as I did!) so plenty of room for riding a bike or a long walk. I'd like to think it is more appealing in spring. But none the less a good walk and a tea rooms a lovely place for a cuppa. Overall...

Wonderful place to relax and roam around. Tropical garden is top class. It's inspiring to see how a tropical garden thriving here. Birds, birds, birds.. Natural beauty. Has a small play area for kids and a covered barbecue area next to it. If you love nature it's a must visit place. There is also a well kept zoo which is free to visit, yes it's true, it's free. Don't forget to carry gold or silver coins for donation (donation box next to kangaroo area), as I couldn't go without appreciating the effort. If you carry some duck food, you or your little ones can enjoy feeding all sorts of birds near the lagoon towards the car park (parental advice - some are real naughty ones so keep an eye on your little once as they flock in, they don't attack but won't mind following you till you feed them) and please don't feed bread, it's harmful for birds.

There is tea and snack area where you can enjoy feeding a bunch of colourful birdies.

Great place to walk if your are health...
