“This wall contains every engine from the start of mankind up to now.”- Arno Grotjahn.
WHO is Arno? Arno was born in 1930 and spent his youth as a merchant seaman travelling the world. He immigrated to Australia with his wife Rita from Bremen, Germany, in the 1960s.
Located behind the iconic @northgregoryhotel Arno’s Wall is a wonder of modern art and architecture. Displaying the collection of junk he culled from the town dump over the years, the wall is filled with lawnmower parts, boat propellers, vintage typewriters, plaster figures, copper pots, sewing machines, and a complete early model Holden 🤯 What was his inspiration? His inspiration for the wall came from a nine month stay in Rome working part time at the Vatican.
