On a bright and sunny morning, I drove along the Grand Pacific Drive, the ocean shimmering beside me, en route to Bald Hill Lookout. As I ascended the winding road, anticipation grew with each turn. At the summit, the view was nothing short of breathtaking — endless blue stretching to the horizon, the rugged cliffs of the Illawarra escarpment dropping dramatically into the Pacific.

The sky was clear, the sun casting a warm, golden hue across the landscape. Hang gliders floated gracefully overhead, launching from the hillside like birds in slow motion. The breeze was fresh but not overpowering, carrying the faint scent of salt and eucalyptus. I stood by the rail, mesmerised by the contrast of green hills, golden sand, and vibrant turquoise waves crashing below at Stanwell Park Beach.

The elevation of the site offers spectacular views of the blue Pacific Ocean below. On the south is the cliffside bridge following the shape of the mountains.

The gliders launched from the lawns around the carpark taking advantage of the uplift wind coming from the ocean against the cliffside dotting the sky on a good day. A colour motion picture of its own.

Talking about the carpark itself: there's a lot of space but on a busy day the parking spaces are in very high demand. There's a fly high cafe, public toilets, and quite often a mobile ice cream van to service the carpark.
