Wellington Dam Lookout, located in the Wellington National Park in Western Australia, offers a breathtaking vantage point to admire the iconic Wellington Dam mural, the largest outdoor art mural in the world. Painted on the dam wall, the mural depicts scenes of local heritage, community, and natural beauty, blending harmoniously with the surrounding environment.

The lookout itself is perched high above the dam and provides panoramic views of the lush forested landscapes, the dam reservoir, and the mural. The area features well-maintained walkways, viewing platforms, and interpretive signs that offer insights into the history and significance of the dam and its mural. Visitors can also enjoy nearby walking trails, picnic spots, and recreational activities like kayaking and fishing in the surrounding park.

This picturesque location is a must-visit for nature lovers, art enthusiasts, and anyone looking to experience a serene escape into the heart of Western Australia’s...

Well worth a day trip visit when exploring the area. Hint….wait until around midday so the sun is high enough not to have shadow casting across the murals for better quality photographs. A drone provides even better views. Important Note…at the present time (Oct 2024) Falcon Road bridge at the bottom of the dam wall is closed to both traffic and pedestrian for restoration work meaning you cannot do a loop drive and have to drive to and then return via your same ingress route. The mural is impressive as is the picturesque dam and with a visit if in the area. Good quality roads leading to and from. Stay well and...

It's a fantastic view from the lookout over the Wellington Dam wall. The lookout features storyboards about the history of the dam, as well as a fantastic aboriginal artwork. The jewel in the crown is Guido van Helten's 8,000 square metre mega-mural on the Wellington Dam wall, which is inspired by local stories and photographs. It is breathtaking! It's the biggest dam wall mural in the world. The walk across the top of the dam wall gives great views back over the dam. All free to visit. No dogs or cats visiting here because of the wildlife. Blue wren came...

The murals brighten up what was a boring concrete wall. The murals are part of the Collie Murals Trail. It'll be so much better to view from the valley floor when the Falcon Road bridge gets reopened. It is possible to enter from the south heading north on Falcon Road, to look up at the murals on the wall and hear and sense the power of the outflow of water. However, then you need to backtrack via Lennards Road to get to the north side of the Dam and get to the Kiosk and the Lookout.
