"Kiosk @ The Dam - a beautiful little Cafe & viewing spot" A beautiful natural area in the middle of nowhere beside the Dam, and a GREAT little Cafe run by the owners. We did the walk up one side of the river from the campsite up to this Cafe for an amazing brunch experience.
Fantastic burgers, awesome coffee, excellent customer service, run by the people who own the business and therefore actually really care about their customers! Great range of little walks are available, around this central spot. Clean toilets, plenty of parking and good service. This is a great place to bring family/kids to get them off their 'electronic addictions' and into the wild natural outdoors.
The surrounding walks are quite breathtaking and there are many tracks for hiking and getting lost along. However, we would only come here in Winter/Spring as we find the weather in relentless in Summer often with no breeze to cool you on the walks. Otherwise, a fantastic little spot for a coffee & burger and a walk & a dip (if it's not too crowded)! by...
Read moreDo you ever walk into a cafe & wonder what you do next? Well that is what happened to us at the Kiosk at the Dam, no greeting, no acknowledgment, for that short awkward moment in time it was like we were not there. The gentleman & the lady seemed busy & focused, until finally the words were uttered, “You need to order over here” ah a greeting, we were at the wrong counter. Service was prompt and our scones and coffee quickly arrived. Now we love morning tea as we travel and we know low price is around $16 & high is around $30, today we were a couple of dollars off the high. The cafe has everything and it’s in a great location, but looking at the other reviews, our visit was not their best. Tip greet your customers, it was quite nobody else in the cafe, could not understand...
Read moreWe visited this Kiosk on a cold school holiday afternoon recently.
Upon setting ourselves up - kids 1 &5yo - our very first interaction with cafe management was to be told that “only cafe food was to be eaten at this particular table”. Please note that the place was empty and the adults in our group intended to order lunch. We were begrudgingly allowed to give the kids some crackers.
Then, when we went in to order lunch 5min later we were told the kitchen had just closed. No mention previously and despite us being outside the whole time.
The grumpy old bloke then proceeded to stump around being rude and dismissive, and a general curmudgeon.
This place seems to take its privileged position as the sole cafe in a burgeoning location for granted. Perhaps the grumpy old people need an attitude adjustment and/or remove themselves from customer...
