Embarking on a journey to Bimini Island, one does not simply tour; they travel through time to a world suspended between the waves and history. The shipwreck that rests within the embrace of the sapphire Bahamian waters is not just a relic; it's a portal to an era bygone.

As you approach, the sunken silhouette of the SS Sapona emerges, a concrete testament to human ingenuity and the whims of fate. Originally built by Henry Ford during WWI, this upright wreck in merely 14 feet of water is now a sanctuary for marine life and a canvas for coral masterpieces.

The experience begins with a dive into the clear, warm waters, where visibility is a diver's dream. The wreck itself is a playground for a plethora of sea creatures; clownfish dart through the wreckage, pufferfish inflate with curiosity, and turtles glide with ancient grace. Above, the sun casts a kaleidoscope of light through the water, illuminating the wreck in a spectral display.

The Sapona is not just a dive site; it's a living museum where every swim through its hollowed chambers tells a story of the past. The guides are custodians of this underwater treasure, ensuring safety and enriching the experience with tales and trivia that bring the shipwreck to life.

As the day unwinds, you're treated to the local hospitality with Bahama mamas on deck, cruising slowly through the island causeway. The view of traditional island homes adds to the charm, making the return from the aquatic adventure a serene conclusion to an exhilarating day.

In Bimini, the shipwreck is more than an attraction; it's a highlight, a must-see, a memory etched not just in photographs, but in the heart. It's a reminder that beneath the waves, there's a world where history breathes and every dive is...

Highly recommend checking this out. Cool spot to eat lunch you bought from Radio beach. The ship wreck is cool and the water is amazing! Great spot to watch boats coming and going. But always keep a watchful eye out. Normally you will see a local posted up next to some large trucks parked in the trees. But when that person is on break or not there be careful if you are alone or it’s just a couple of you. My wife and I were followed out when going to enjoy our lunch. It was a white Mercedes with three men inside. I saw the passenger point to my right. Two boys were running on the beach. A look up the hill and I saw their parents. The car backed away. But as they did the man in the back seat never took his eyes off my wife and...

The best way to experience the island and see these types of destinations is to rent a golf cart. We did this with our group and had a great time driving along the road to the island down to this area. There is no real beach it's more of a rocky outcropping and you can see the ship wreck there. The cemetery is also there and so is a interesting sign that we saw. In the I quote forest area there is a signpost hanging with destinations to different areas. I wish someone would have brought a wall drug sign to put up I'll have to think about that next time I...

People have recommended a golf cart to see this, but truly all depends on where youre staying. If youre at Big Game Club, this is an easy walk. If youre at hilton, its a long walk and a heck of a lot easier with a golf cart, but if you walk, youll see a lot more then you would riding. We walked the entire island in two days and it was truly worth the walk. This spot is awesome at sunset. Its a small wreck and a good site to visiton the island. Nothing overlly amazing but still fun to see and if the water proivdes good conditions, to snorkle around.

Beautiful beach! Quiet area with enough walking distance to explore. It is in a pretty natural state so there are rocks that can hurt your feet or ankles if you are not careful/mindful. I highly recommend swim/water shoes to give you better footing. I do wish to have seen less trash surrounding the wooded area though. I refused to contribute to littering but maybe large trash bins can help to prevent this from other careless people.
