I went to pirate's cove as a part of the margaritaville cruise. I don't know if this review is more of a reflection of my cruise or on the cove. It was an okay time. It was a beautiful day and the people were wonderful. But I would not recommend the zipline, especially for any of my plus size ladies who have large hips large thighs large butts. I am 5'4, a size 16/18 pant size, xl shirt, and their equipment did not fit me. I have been zip lining before and had a wonderful experience in Jamaica. For pirate's cove Bahamas, I did not receive any information about size or weight restrictions concerning the zipline to make any informed changes. I'm not a particularly oversized individual just a bit hip heavy, and found the experience of it embarrassing to say the least. Unfortunately since it was an excursion as a part of my cruise they refused to give me a refund. And then there was no way back to the ship after the main experience I wanted was not available to me because they do not allow you to leave until 3: 00. We got there at 9:30 a.m. So in terms of value of this particular location I would have just preferred to stay on the the ship if I knew in advance restrictions concerning it. I also found the cove had many rocks in its Sandy Waters, so suggest wearing water shoes or Crocs when in the water. There are a lot of wasps and bees out there as well as large flies so if you have any allergies be sure to bring an EpiPen or to take any precautions you need to. Cash for tipping is always necessary for those who are working and not a part of the margaritaville crew. But I will share the best conch salad I have ever had was at this location with I believe her name was Sheila. She shared she went to the fish market and got the conch early and so I particularly witnessed how fresh all the ingredients were. Thanks Sheila for a wonderful experience with your $25 conch...

This was an amazing place. We came as an excursion with Carnival. But my youngest, 6 years old, wants to go back. We rented a cabana for our party of 6 so my review will be based on what we saw and what we got with that packaged. The cabana was a nice place out of the sun to relax. We got 2 loungers and an umbrella as well. The kids had 2 floater beds they could have used but didn't because they were having fun elsewhere. Our cabana came with conch fritters, which many enjoyed, a coer that was also a table, a couch and 2 arms chairs a small table 4 small bathtub size towels and 2 sets of snorkels and fins my kids enjoyed. Our server who was assigned to us was amazing and I wish I had written her name down. I enjoyed chatting with her and she offered my youngest a set of sand toys as we forgot ours. There was a small pool to splash in and a playground free of charge. We got to take pictures for an extra fee with a parrot, we also got to see them walk the pigs on the beach. Ladies nearby did hair braiding, we could rent paddle boats or kayaks. The trampoline on the water was free to use as well. The siplines were extra and we didn't take advantage of those but they looked fun. Our food was not included but it wasn't expensive and we easily feed my kids well udnerbudget. We did take advantage of the 6 bahama mama's that came with our package and did find bringing extra water beneficial as there were only 6 bottles of water included tho you could order more as need. Rather than paying for eachbitem as we needed for food and additonal drinks we were set up with a tab. Definitely loved it here and...

Went as part of a Carnival excursion. Transportation staff were very friendly and funny and gave history of the island as we were driving to the beach. Beach was okay. Water was really pretty. The locals selling shells, bags, shirts, etc were friendly but a little pushy. I told the same lady "no thank you" at least 5 times. I was trying to play with my daughter in the sand, and she would interrupt us every single time. Also, be aware that hair braiders along the beach will only take cash. My daughter wanted hers done and the lady told me she would be fast. Well, she was fast and very friendly but I'm so disappointed that I paid over $100 for these braids. She didn't use any gel, and by the time we left, her braids were frizzy and her curly hair was sticking out of the braids. (We've gotten her hair braided at other islands and Mexico in the past and they've lasted for weeks) By the end of the 4th day, her hair had matted so badly, they were practically dreadlocks and it took us 3 hours to get them all out. This was the first and only time her braids have done that, and I know it's because she went fast and didn't use any gel. Bar service was slow.. I stood at the bar for a solid 10 minutes before being acknowledged.

Overall, not sure I'd go back. The people of the Bahamas are friendly but would maybe try another excursion next time or maybe...

Do not. I repeat. Do not purchase excursions on the cruise ship. Get off. Walk through the terminal. Ask for a cab to Taino Beach, which is where Pirates's Cove, Zipline, and Waterpark is located. I think the price is $7 a person, each way. Which is paid as you get off the van before entering Taino Beach. Then everything else is A LA Carte. Beach chairs, with an umbrella, is $28 (total), unless you want specific ones, not included in that price. There are a few restaurants right around in the immediate vicinity that serve chicken, burgers, shrimp, etc. There's a VIP area (chairs only on higher deck) and an all-inclusive restaurant that's separate. There is ziplining, jet skiing (water park, paddle boards, kayak, beach towels). Things in parentheses included in the $28 dollar price. There is free seating on the deck and in the bar area. Restrooms and outdoor showers to rinse sand off close by. But, the vans will not take you back to the terminal unless they have a packed van. Or you can pay extra to leave ASAP. Also, there was no A/C in these old rickety vans. The drive was about 15 to 20 minutes each way. But, all in all, you save tons of money, you relax, and the last van leaves at 3 pm. Bring dollar bills. Beware: No food or drinks are allowed to be brought back on the ship.

Pretty good place at an awesome beach. First off, everything here is paid. There's a minimum of $12 that you need to pay for entrance fee, and then you also need to pay for the sunbeds. There's a bar serving good selection of drinks, juices, etc and food too. There's a couple of souvenir shops also, and a few water activities (all paid, of course). Jet skying and the banana boat were the popular ones. It is beach front, and the beach is nice, absolutely beautiful, and good for swimming. One thing to keep in mind is, as of this writing, this place only opens when there's a ship coming. So if you're planning on going, make sure it's a day where a cruise ship is visiting the island. And when the ship arrives, there will be a influx of people coming at the same time, so I advise to get before that - I'd say be here 10:00-10:30, tops - or you may either not get sunbeds anymore or get the ones in the worst locations. And, once the folks who are on the ship go back (because the cruise ships are about to leave the island) then the whole place close. This was about 15:30-16:00 when I was there. So if you're staying on the island you'll likely have to wrap up and leave. All in all though, I found this a perfect place to spend day chilling at the beach.

Ok listen up folks, this IS a beach highly visited by tourists primarily off cruise ships coming into Freeport. Please know that everything here will have a TOURIST price tag on it. It is about a 25 minute ride from the port. Cash will be your best friend although cards are accepted. Round trip is $20/pp and you will ride in a taxi van. Entrance into the beach park is $16/pp. This price gets you into the area and your choice of one free drink OR access to the non motorized activities on the beach (kayaks, floating pad, etc). It does not offer you lounge chair access, umbrella, zip line, jet ski, etc. Please know those are all separate fees. The beach is a little rocky so it’s beneficial to bring water shoes. There are food options (conch fritters, jerk chicken, etc) a bar, and other small vendors (souvenirs, hair braiding). The area can get crowded as well. The water is clear and free of plastics and trash (so keep it that way). Overall, it’s an enjoyable day trip. When it comes to heading back to the port via taxi vans, pack patience and respect the workers. Remember, they do not want you stranded on their island just as much as you don’t want to be so they will ensure you get back to the port. Relax.
