On February 22, 1969, the park was named after Shahid Hadis Park.
The full name of Shaheed Hadith is Sheikh Haddisur Rahman Babu. He was born on 21 April 1944 in Ranbijaypur village of Bagerhat district. They were 4 brothers, three sisters, two brothers and two sisters. Hadith came to Khulna to get admission in the Azmakhan Commerce College by passing SSC.Hadith worked in a laundry named White Snow on Shantimham Bunder, due to family's helplessness. When the anti-Ayub anti-mass movement started in 1969, it was decided that on February 21, there will be a procession from different places of Khulna city and will be assembled in the municipal park. On February 21, at around 9:30 am, a procession of Haji Mohsin Road came into the clash with police in the presence of additional deputy commissioner of non-Bengali Afzal Kahut, the then acting officer of the municipality.Hadisur Rahman Babu was martyred when police opened fire. The news of Hadisur's death spreads across the city as protests started. Altaf and Pradip were killed in clashes with police in different places.
