Store management with regards to its live animals is an utter embarrassment. On our visit it was nearly 30°C outside, so you can imagine the temperature inside the glasshouse interior. By the time we were there it was already midday. We found several bird cages, occupied, without access to water. There was a small display pond with far too many koi in it, one floating near-death on top. Several occupied tropical fish displays had not seen maintenance in at least a month. For the Betta fish it was so bad you could barely tell whether some of the little sales tanks were occupied, which might explain why some had been skipped when feeding. Their display parrot and store mascot, a Kea if I am not mistaken, only had access to a thin layer of completely dirty water in an already shallow bowl.
When we addressed the only working caretaker around about the birds, one of which was in critical condition, the only response was a convincing "That was going to be my next task.". I repeat, this was already midday, well beyond opening hours. Nearly a dozen other employees in the store, doing meaningless tasks stocking basic inventory.
Management, get your priorities straight. If you think you are responsible enough to take care of living inventory, act like it! Take care of living inventory first thing, first animals then plants, only then focus on other inventory. Beyond unprofessional at worst, terrible marketing on how Eurotuin treats their inventory at best.
Willing to amend this review if conditions improve, because otherwise it is a nice store. Excuses...
Read moreI have used over 100 euros of ecocheques to pay at the cassa. The lady at the cassa told me that the first attempt of payment was not successful. I told her that the transaction was for me already performed, as indicated on the terminal. She insisted and asked me to pay one more time. She reassured me that the first attempt resulted in an error and I would only be charged once. Unfortunately once I was home, I checked the transactions and I noticed a double payment. I came back on the same day to ask for a refund. I was told that they cannot return cash or make an immediate refund on the bank card. So like in the old days, I was asked to fill a peper form with my bank coordinates. After calls and a further visit to the shop, 1 week later I still did not receive a refund. The refund documents are somewhere lost in bureaucracy of the accountants. This is totally not acceptable. Bought a tamed indian ringneck parakeet about 4,5 months ago, and a store employee named Gale (who also tamed the parakeet) helped me in the best possible way!
