Tour of Flanders — Attraction in Oudenaarde

Disastrous experience with the bike rental service. The bikes were not ready when we arrived, wrong sizes, pedals were not installed, one bike with completely destroyed handlebar tape... No mechanic on site to assist with this, we had to spend 1h30 sorting that ourselves and the reception guy did not care at all. After the first route we already had bikes with shifting and brakes problems, when asked for a solution they only offered to continue like that or return the bikes. For 5 bikes we were only given 2 old spare air tubes and one of them was already punctured, we had to buy our own to continue the route. There was no other rental company available at that time so we ended up going to another bike shop nearby where they could fix our bikes, at that shop they were ashamed of the attention we received at Centrum Ronde Van Vlaanderen and fixed the bikes for free. The personnel at centrum was arrogant and really didn't care or put any effort on finding a solution or compensation, they even sarcastically said "well you shouldn't have taken the bikes then" (we traveled from another country and had no other rental options then). Never seen anything like that....

DO NOT EVER RENT A BIKE HERE

We rented 5 bikes for three days. The bikes were in a very bad condition: one of them had the handlebar tape completely destroyed, two had problems with the gears (one of them did not change to the big gear and we had to do the whole route with the small one) and another one had problems with the rear brake. The wheels were also worn and we had four punctures due to this (and they only gave us two spare tubes when they had confirmed by e-mail in the booking that it would be one per bike).

We had to take two of these bikes to another bike shop for repair because there was not any mechanic who could try to fix them in this place. When we inform of the problems to the people in the reception, they answered us in a very rude way things like "ous standard are different than yours" or "why did you take the bikes if they were in such bad condition, your can rent them in any other place"; when our booking was more than one month ago.

The completely ruined our bike tour through Belgium with their bikes and the horrible maintenance condition...

We ordered 5 bikes with different sizes and with 32 pinion cassete, but we got only 3 of them at the moment, but we finally got them, despite in no very good condition. In fact, in 2 of the bikes, the gear did nit shift well and we had to go to another shop to fix it, as well as with a brake that didn't brake. Another bike, at the end of the day began to loose the plate shif, and it finally got stuck in the smallest plate. One of the bikes was delivered with the handlebars totally worn, but they said it wastheir standard and they did nothing to fix it with new tape. All the bikes were found without pedals, that we had to install ourselves. We onle got only 2 air tubes for the 5 bikes and the 3 rental days and one of them was already punctured. They had no technician available during the weekend, fom Friday to Sunday, the days we needed the bikes, and they did nothing to solve the problems we found. No support. All in all, the worst place to rent a bike and the worst service...
